Financing Manager – Treasury

As a Financing Manager you are a key member of the Financing team responsible for and supporting in financing to deliver the Centrica for tomorrow. Centrica is at an exciting time in its history. With a strong balance sheet and entering a new strategic growth phase, this role, as part of a new team, will ensure that the financing of investments across the group and solutions are structured in an appropriate manner. The role holder will combine a technical and tactical capability to bring results in projects related to capital structure, project financing, structured financing, corporate financing, M&A, and intercompany financing arrangements.

 The Role & Accountabilities

  • Partner with Centrica businesses units to implement the optimal financing structure, i.e. sizing of debt and equity quantum, including structure of debt (and possibly equity) for group investments, e.g. solar, batteries, BESS, nuclear, CCUS, other generation assets, gas storage, hydrogen production, etc.
  • Support M&A and/or business units on bids for future investments, from non-binding to binding offer stage, with analysis related to debt quantum, liquidity impact, rating impact, credit metrics, interest rate risk, FX risk, accounting considerations, working capital, etc.
  • Technical input establishing funding for projects, e.g., negotiating documentation, financing modelling, strategy, structures, and impact on credit ratings. For example, bankability analysis, impact on ratings thresholds, commercial debt terms, risks and mitigants, etc…
  • Creativity and problem-solving skills to help innovate solutions for business units, e.g. alternative financing structure to optimise capital usage and minimise cash from balance sheet being utilised.
  • Support with respect to M&A transactions, including but not limited to treasury specific matters (e.g., payments, intercompany, etc), debt structuring, modelling / sensitivity analysis, documentation, credit metric impact, liquidity, optimal funding structure, etc
  • Organise and manage framework of project streams, e.g. manage timing, sequence authorisations, order key deliverables, involve appropriate internal and external stakeholders, etc.   
  • Utilise external network and previous experience to Centrica's benefit, e.g. banks, institution investors, advisors, legal counsel, etc
  • Support wider treasury team in shared objectives and goals.

 

The Person

  • The person needs to bring energy, thought, organisation and creativity. 
  • A track record of being part of a team to develop mutually beneficial outcomes in a complex environment.
  • Ability to think outside of the box whilst simplifying.
  • Varied financing experience – project, structured, corporate, securitisation, working capital, trade, capital markets, capital raising, etc.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with external and internal counterparts.
  • Experience in structuring and executing financings related to the energy sector.
  • Qualifications related to Treasury and/or Finance would be desirable.
