Job Summary

Reporting to the Director, Regulatory Affairs, the Regulatory Analyst will  be responsible for analyzing, developing, and advocating for policies and regulations that promote the deployment of energy storage, electric vehicles and other emerging technologies in New York state and beyond. This role requires a deep understanding of the policy landscape, strong analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex information to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Policy Research and Analysis: Conduct in-depth research on current and emerging policies related to clean technology, including energy storage, electric vehicles, vehicle-to-grid, and other emerging technologies.
  • Regulatory Monitoring: Track and analyze federal, state, and local legislation and regulations that impact on energy storage. Identify additional market opportunities and/or risks for the organization.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with industry stakeholders, government agencies, trade organizations, environmental justice groups, and other relevant parties to gather insights and build support for policy initiatives.
  • Advocacy and Communication: Develop and present policy and regulatory recommendations to internal and external audiences, including government officials, industry leaders, and the public. Prepare written reports, policy briefs, comments, letters of support, and position papers.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze data related to energy storage deployment, market trends, and environmental impacts to inform policy and regulatory development.
  • Strategic Planning: Contribute to the organization’s strategic planning efforts by identifying key policy areas and developing strategies to influence policy outcomes.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other departments within the organization, including legal, communications/marketing, product and project development teams, to align policy goals with broader organizational objectives.
  • Public Speaking: Represent the organization at conferences, workshops, and other public forums to advocate for clean technology policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • University Degree required with 3 or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Background in renewable energy and energy storage policy and regulation.
  • Effective written & oral communications skills; experience of engagement with leadership team level is desired.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills related to large data sets.
  • Knowledge and/or experience of the following will be highly beneficial:
    • Fundamental knowledge in renewable energy, cleantech, power markets
    • Knowledge of New York’s distributed energy market
    • Experience with Google and MS Office productivity suites
  • Team player that is well-adept at working with cross-functional teams to execute complex projects
  • Comfortable working in a start-up environment and willing to step up beyond formal roles/responsibilities when “all hands on deck” situations arise.
