Cost Accounting Manager

 

Job Summary

CelLink is seeking a Cost Accounting Manager with a solid background in inventory management in manufacturing environments. The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of experience in manufacturing environments and will be responsible for analyzing and reporting on the costs associated with production. This role is critical to maintaining accurate financial records, improving cost efficiency, and optimizing inventory control. This role will not have direct reports at this time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and report on manufacturing costs, including labor, materials, and overhead, to support budgeting and pricing decisions.
  • Develop and enforce policies and procedures to ensure consistent and accurate cost accounting practices.
  • Monitor and manage manufacturing inventory, ensuring accurate valuation, tracking, and reconciliation of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods. Conduct regular inventory audits and cycle counts to ensure accuracy.
  • Provide actionable insights and recommendations based on cost analysis to support strategic decisions.
  • Assist in developing budgets and forecasts by providing detailed cost analysis and identifying trends in production costs.
  • Maintain and update standard costs for products, ensuring that variances are properly analyzed and explained. Work closely with operations and production teams to understand cost drivers and improve cost efficiencies.
  • Support month-end closing processes by preparing cost reports, reconciling inventory accounts, and ensuring all production costs are captured accurately in the financial statements.
  • Conduct a thorough analysis of cost variances (actual vs. standard), explaining discrepancies, and suggesting corrective actions.
  • Work closely with the production, procurement, and engineering teams to provide financial insights and improve cost accuracy and efficiency throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, internal controls, and audit requirements related to inventory and cost management. Maintain accurate and organized documentation of all cost-related data and processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment, with a strong emphasis on inventory management and analysis.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, especially related to inventory and costing modules (experience with Syspro a plus).
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and cost accounting principles.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capability to identify and implement process improvements.

Work Environment – Office

Includes both a typical office environment, with minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues, and a shop environment, with exposure to high noise levels from operating machines, physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts, nuisance dust, and exposure to hazardous materials used in the manufacturing process.

Physical Demands – Office

This position requires the ability to talk and hear. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers to handle or feel and manipulate keys on a keyboard.
