Position Overview:

As the Director of Brand and Communications, you will be responsible for shaping and executing a comprehensive brand and communications strategy that enhances our market position as category leader in Smart ESG, deepens customer engagement, and strengthens our reputation as an industry leader. This senior role will oversee all brand positioning, corporate communications, public relations, and executive communications efforts, ensuring cohesive and impactful storytelling across all channels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Brand Strategy: Develop and lead a compelling brand vision and strategy that supports our business goals, ensuring consistent messaging and alignment across all touch-points. Define the brand voice, tone, and visual identity in partnership with creative teams
  • Communications Leadership: Oversee corporate communications, including internal and external messaging, public relations, crisis communications, and media relations. Ensure messaging is clear, consistent, and aligned with our brand narrative
  • Public Relations: Build and nurture relationships with key media outlets, industry analysts, and influencers to increase our visibility and thought leadership. Lead the strategy for press releases, product announcements, and media outreach
  • Executive Communications: Partner with C-level executives to craft impactful messaging for public speaking engagements, investor relations, and internal communications. Position the leadership team as thought leaders in the industry
  • Content Factory and Storytelling: Develop and execute a content “factory” that brings our brand story to life through compelling narratives, case studies, thought leadership, and customer success stories. Collaborate closely with the Market Development Team, other marketing teams to ensure a unified brand message
  • Crisis Management: Lead the development of a crisis communication plan and serve as the primary spokesperson during high-stakes situations, protecting and enhancing the company’s reputation
  • Team Leadership: Build, lead, and inspire a team of brand, communications, and PR professionals. Foster a culture of creativity, accountability, and innovation within the team
  • Internal Communications: Collaborate with People and leadership to drive internal communication strategies that engage and align employees with the company’s mission, vision, and values
  • Market Research and Trends: Stay informed about industry trends, competitor strategies, and audience insights to ensure our brand remains relevant and differentiated. Use data to guide decision-making and optimize campaigns.
  • Partnerships & Sponsorships: Lead efforts around strategic partnerships, sponsorships, and brand activations that enhance our brand visibility and credibility in key markets

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 10+ years of experience in brand strategy, corporate communications, or related fields, with a proven track record in B2B SaaS or technology-driven environments. At least 5 years in a leadership role
  • Brand Expertise: Demonstrated success in building and growing a strong, recognizable brand in a competitive market. Deep understanding of brand architecture, positioning, and storytelling
  • Demonstrated brand re-positioning in previous roles and having created value messaging on technically complex solutions.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to craft and convey complex ideas in a clear, concise, and compelling manner
  • Leadership: Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience guiding cross-functional teams and influencing senior stakeholders
  • Media Relations: Strong media network and experience driving impactful press coverage and media outreach efforts
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically and creatively to drive brand innovation and long-term growth, while also paying close attention to executional details
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field. Advanced degree or MBA preferred

Datamaran operates on a hybrid basis from our 4 hubs. Our Marketing team will grow from our developing office in Leeuwarden where we will require the new Marketing Director to attend and collaborate in-person at least 2 to 4 times per month, allowing for a commute from the Amsterdam area for example
