To get where we’re going, we need a brilliant Net Zero Communications Lead to own and deliver the thought leadership and comms plan for our new net zero division and the Hive brand.

We are looking for a Maternity Cover until 1st December 2025 to lead our net zero communications. The Comms Lead will drive Net Zero activity across earned consumer and business PR channels, be responsible for developing our communications and thought leadership strategy to the industry, consumers and internal colleagues. 

Working within a matrix organisation the role will be driving forward the Net Zero narrative, reporting into Group Marketing and Brand and working with Corporate communications. You will also work with colleagues across Internal Comms, Group Marketing and Brand, Digital and the Energy business to deliver a fully integrated approach.

You’ll be empowered to lead PR, communications plans and activations that are best in class, working with agencies.

The Role:

  • Strategic communications, deliver a strategic narrative and communications plan based on a thought leadership strategy enabling delivery of the business’ Net Zero objectives
  • Thought leadership; devising and delivering a programme of thought leadership activity, aligned with broader Centrica comms.
  • Working with Public Affairs, Corporate Comms Digital & Social Media and Internal Comms teams to ensure activity is fully integrated across the business.
  • Create compelling content to engage stakeholders
  • PR ownership for Net Zero, delivering activity via the consumer PR agency, leading campaigns from brief through to delivery
  • Use data and insight to understand the impact of communication and engagement campaigns, and continually improve the quality of our activity

The Person Requirements:

As an experienced Communications Lead you’ll have a track record of:

  • Strategic Communications: Manage the creation or review of a strategy which enables delivery of the business’s objectives
  • Delivering high impact thought leadership activity
  • Working with agency partners, specifically comms campaigns & PR
  • Relationship Management: Facilitates the engagement of senior stakeholders and manages conflicting priorities
  • Managing PR and agency budgets
  • Outcome and impact driven with a relentless focus on commercial and customer outcomes
  • Holding stakeholders and agency partners to account, ensuring all marketing communications drive customer growth and champion customer obsession

And you’ll have clear examples of:

  • Managing a range of stakeholders in a matrix organisation
  • Experience in an integrated communications role, partnering with leadership teams
  • Extensive experience of writing communications and identifying and delivering on thought leadership, campaign activity
  • Being able to influence
  • Getting things done – “can do” attitude is a must
  • Strong attention to detail and enthusiasm for quality and consistency
  • Data-driven decision making, able to use data and insight to drive campaign effectiveness
  • Agency management
  • Budget management
