JOB TITLE: Electrical Apprentice

AUTHORITY & SUPERVISION: 

  • Reports directly to the Director of Facilities.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Support job sites with tools, equipment and material.
  • Apply basic methods for installation of electrical equipment with electrician’s tools, including, but not limited to, hand tools, conduit benders, hammer drills, wire pullers and man lifts.
  • Read blueprints and specifications for project layout and installation.
  • Follow instructions from the Director of Facilities and be able to communicate clearly any problems they come across during their daily assignment.
  • Comply with industry safety standards and procedures (OSHA), company safety policies and procedures and general housekeeping rules.
  • Install safety and distribution components (e.g. switches, resistors, circuit-breaker panels etc.)
  • Connect wiring in electrical circuits and networks ensuring compatibility of components
  • Prevent breakdown of systems by routinely inspecting and replacing old wiring and insulated cables, cleaning circuits etc.
  • Perform effective troubleshooting to identify hazards or malfunctions and repair or substitute damaged units
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Understanding of basic electrical and mechanical theory and troubleshooting
  • High level knowledge of electrical circuits and drawings
  • Some experience in troubleshooting control/low voltage systems
  • Proficient in the use of electrical test equipment includes but not limited to: Multi-meters, Amp Meters, and Meggers
  • Skilled in the safe use of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
  • Well versed in maintenance safety protocols including PPE and LOTO
  • Ability to identify unsafe situations and work with team leads onsite
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Completion or current enrollment of Trade School, Apprenticeship, or relevant Experience strongly preferred

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 21 years of age.
  • Possess valid driver’s license or state ID.
  • Must pass all required background checks.
  • Ability to work nights, holidays and weekends.
  • Must be and remain compliant with any and all legal or company regulations for working in the industry.
  • Frequently moves up to 30+ pounds of equipment/materials/product within rooms (100 pounds with assistance).
  • This job function may include being in a stationary position, or moving for extended periods of time.
