Salary Range: $70,000 - $75,000 


The Environmental League of Massachusetts (ELM) and the ELM Action Fund (ELM AF) are committed to advocating for policy and building political power in Massachusetts to meet the scale and urgency of our environmental challenges. The Events Manager will be an integral member of a collegial and effective 19-person advocacy team. Read our purpose, mission, vision, and values for ELM and the ELM Action Fund. 


We seek a motivated, detail-oriented Events Manager to support planning, project management, and implementation of our ELM and the ELM Action Fund events. Most events will take place in Greater Boston, with occasional travel to other areas in the region.  

 

Responsibilities: 

Planning and Project Management 

  • Plan and execute in-person, hybrid, and virtual events ranging in size and scope, including our major annual event Earth Night, small donor events, political fundraisers, educational policy events, and more 
  • Serve as event project manager, owning the logistics and management for all assigned events, including communications with internal team members and external partners 
  • Coordinate event invitation lists, working across teams and online tools 
  • Coordinate events-related digital efforts, including mass emails and social media pushes, with the Digital Communications Coordinator 
  • Support the writing and development and sending of event materials, such as invitations 
  • Communicate with and manage vendors, overseeing logistics and supporting with contracts and payment 
  • Collaborate with the Operations Coordinator to organize event details and logistics throughout planning 
  • Manage the organization-wide events calendar and work in partnership with the Communications Director, Executive Vice President, the development team, and other staff to build the calendar 
  • Work with the Data Systems Manager to organize events data and analyze results 
  • Assist with the development of events budgets and work within budget limitations 
  • Additional project management and writing tasks, as necessary 

Implementation 

  • Coordinate smooth operations on event days 
  • Organize day-of staffing plans and effectively communicate expectations to team members 
  • Support appropriate post-event follow-up to attendees, no shows/cancelations, and vendors/hosts 

 

Qualifications: 
Required 

  • Passion for ELM and the ELM Action Fund’s Purpose, Mission, Vision, and Values 
  • Experience project managing and executing medium and/or large events 
  • Experience working with event venues and vendors 
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects across teams 
  • Excellent organization skills, writing and editing ability, time management skills, and attention to detail 
  • Experience managing Excel spreadsheets 
  • Collaborative mindset and demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams and independently  

Preferred 

  • Experience planning small fundraising and/or political events and working with stakeholders such as donors and candidates 
  • Experience using data management platforms, such as Salesforce 
  • Understanding of the political and/or environmental landscape in Massachusetts 

 

Compensation & Benefits: 

$70,000-$75,000, depending on experience. ELM provides generous paid time off, health insurance, Health Reimbursement Account, and a 403(b) retirement plan with organizational match. 

This full-time role requires occasional morning, evening, and weekend commitments outside of the standard 9-5 office hours. ELM supports a hybrid work environment.
