Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. is seeking an experienced Sales Account Manager in the South Subregion.  

This position is based out of your home office in the Eastern North Carolina or Southern Virginia area.


The Sales Account Manager is responsible for selling bulk nitrogen, oxygen, argon, hydrogen, and helium to a wide variety of market segments including oil & gas, metals fabrication, food packagers, and general industrial sites.

Air Products is looking for a professional with a focus on value-based selling to lead all facets of the sales process from prospecting, preparing, and presenting proposals, to contract and price negotiations and portfolio management.

Required Skills / Abilities: 

  • A positive attitude and a passion to be the best in the industry

  • Self-motivation with an ability to work and prioritize independently

  • A desire to be part of a collaborative team environment

  • Strong analytical and financial skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong presentation skills

  • Industrial gas experience is preferred “but not required”

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Securing new business - exceed your sales targets by selling our portfolio of products

  • Retaining existing business - manage our customer relationships to ensure account retention

  • Improving portfolio profitability - increase revenue through volume growth and price management

  • Always representing Air Products in a courteous, professional and respectful manner

  • Flexibility to travel - 60%

Minimum Hiring Requirements:

  • A 4-year college degree is in business or engineering is preferred “but not required”, or equivalent experience with a strong technical aptitude

  • 3-4 years of successfully demonstrated sales experience is required

  • High School Diploma or GED is required

  • Must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record and your own vehicle
