Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine calibration, testing, and maintenance of measurement instruments and equipment to ensure accuracy and functionality.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain metrology standards and procedures, ensuring compliance with industry and regulatory requirements.
  • Verify and validate the performance of instruments and measurement systems, identifying any discrepancies and performing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues with measuring devices, working closely with equipment suppliers or technical teams as needed.
  • Maintain accurate calibration records, certificates, and reports according to quality management system (QMS) requirements.
  • Ensure all measurement instruments comply with national and international standards (e.g., ISO, NIST, ASTM) and participate in audits to demonstrate compliance.
  • Provide training and technical support to staff on proper use and maintenance of measurement instruments.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to metrology processes to increase efficiency, accuracy, and reliability.
  • Work closely with engineering, production, and quality control teams to ensure alignment on measurement requirements and troubleshooting.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Metrology, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience:
  • 3+ years of experience in metrology, calibration, or equipment validation in a manufacturing or laboratory environment.
  • Hands-on experience with a wide range of precision instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), optical comparators).
  • Certification in Metrology (e.g., ASQ Certified Calibration Technician (CCT), NIST Training).
  • Experience with automated calibration equipment or systems.
  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and other industry-specific regulations.
  • Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and data analysis.
