An opportunity to play your part – As the successfully appointed Technology Manager, your role involves supporting the team in maintaining and advancing the Hive Hardware product range, a key component in Centrica’s journey towards achieving its Net Zero objectives. Your responsibilities will encompass everything from the generation of innovative ideas, the specification of new products, the creation of designs, to partnering with our associates to deliver solutions that surpass our customers’ anticipations on their route to Net Zero. You will be closely coordinating with software teams, supply chain, procurement, and commercial divisions of the company to realize these goals.”

The day to day –

  • Assist in defining the specifications for new Hardware and Firmware products and maintain the current IoT product portfolio.
  • Implement stringent testing methods to ensure the reliability, functionality, and industry standard compliance of our products.
  • Apply your knowledge of electronics and firmware to quickly prototype Proof of Concept (PoC) hardware designs. Utilize available development kits, components, and tools to showcase the capabilities and potential of the proposed solutions.
  • Employ software tools to simulate hardware behavior, communication protocols, and system performance, providing crucial insights before the creation of physical prototypes.
  • Generate inventive ideas and concepts for new IoT products or features, leveraging technologies like Zigbee, Modbus, and primarily Silabs radios. Suggest PoC projects that align with our strategic objectives and market needs.
  • Keep precise records of testing procedures, results, and any modifications made during the development process. Produce reports to share findings and suggestions with the team.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, firmware developers, and product managers, to troubleshoot issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to electronic hardware design and manufacturing.
  • Work closely with manufacturers in China and other regions to guarantee the on-time delivery of cost-effective, high-quality products.
  • Occasional requirement to commute between different Centrica offices across the UK.
