About the role:

We're making energy fair, clean, and simple for all using technology. Powering over 7 million homes in Britain and abroad with award-winning customer service and innovative green energy offers, while building a more sustainable energy system for tomorrow.

Bringing people together to work as a team has been a key part of our success at Octopus. We create bright and modern workspaces that are inviting and encourage teams to collaborate. We’ve grown rapidly over the last 8 years and we now have 8 offices across the UK, spanning all our different entities across Octopus Energy Group.

We’re looking for a passionate leader to take on a brand new role as Head of Workspace to oversee all of our UK offices and lead our brilliant office management team.

We’re looking for someone who thrives on bringing different teams of awesome humans together, designing innovative solutions and getting stuck in to make it happen.

What you'll do

  • Bring together and lead our office management team across the whole of the UK, from Brighton, all the way to Manchester.
  • Drive efficiencies and synergies across the offices where it’s smart to do so.
  • Lead on all UK property expansion, fit-outs and workspace set up.
  • Oversee the sourcing of new property and negotiation of leases & terms.
  • Responsible for existing property leases and managing future renewals.
  • Review and harmonise third party supplier contracts where needed, from facilities maintenance to cleaning.
  • Make sure we’re compliant with health and safety standards across all of our offices.
  • Collaborate with leaders across our different businesses and support teams (e.g. TechOps, Finance, PeopleOps) to keep our spaces running smoothly.
  • Accountable for making sure our UK spaces are an amazing place for our team members to work from.

What you'll need

  • Leadership capability to enable and elevate a diverse multi-site team.
  • To love to work with all kinds of people - you’ve got no functional shoulder pads.
  • The ability to navigate a high energy, busy environment and juggle multiple priorities. With the agility to be able to pivot and adapt, all the time.
  • To use your initiative to solve and tackle challenges at scale, but not forgetting that each of our offices and teams are unique.
  • The ability to balance creating and maintaining high quality workspaces for thousands of people, as well as having a commercial mindset.
  • Experience in managing multi-site workspace projects, fit-outs and properties.
  • Understanding of health & safety standards and other best practice
  • An awareness of commercial property commercials and legal process would be a bonus

Why else you'll love it here

  • Wondering what the salary for this role is? Just ask us! On a call with one of our recruiters it's something we always cover as we genuinely want to match your experience with the correct salary. The reason why we don't advertise is because we honestly have a degree of flexibility and would never want salary to be a reason why someone doesn't apply to Octopus - what's more important to us is finding the right octofit!
  • Octopus Energy Group is a unique culture. An organisation where people learn, decide, and build quicker. Where people work with autonomy, alongside a wide range of amazing co-owners, on projects that break new ground. We won best company to work for in 2022, on Glassdoor we were voted 50 best places to work in 2022 and our Group CEO, Greg has recorded a podcast about our culture and how we empower our people. We’ve also been placed in the top 10 companies for senior leadership and most recently The Sunday Times, Best Places To Work 2023 and again in 2024
