Role Overview:

We are recruiting a high-caliber candidate to support the brokers and trading desks in Equity Derivatives products within a Back Office Operations environment.

The candidate will take on the role of Equities & Derivatives Operations specialist covering APAC markets. This includes managing Trade Management activities related to Matched Principal, Exchange Traded, and Name Give Ups in Hong Kong.

Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for Operations Quality & Control functions, including but not limited to: trade matching and reconciliation, inter-system and inter-company reconciliation, and regulatory reporting.

The candidate will work closely with the Front Office, preparing to discuss initiatives that aid in trade booking and brokerage calculations, and supporting the business throughout the trade lifecycle. They will provide Operations feedback and insights with a Risk & Control mindset while facilitating accuracy and confirmations for the Business and Front Office.

Responsibilities include client services, operational excellence, and quality assurance: ensuring all trades are accurately booked and matched within strict settlement timelines or client expectations; verifying that all trade confirmations are accurate and sent to clients within the agreed SLA; handling inquiries properly and following up promptly; and ensuring task completion and that procedures/SOPs are up-to-date.

Role Responsibilities:

The role itself has two main pillars:  Trade Support/ Settlements and Operations Control

  • Responsible for daily processes on Post-Trade Management
  • Verify and control static data in systems and platforms to ensure accurate Front-to-Back bookings workflow
  • Monitor RIMS settlement system platform and follow up on Trades Settlements and inquiry to ensure smooth and successful settlements and markets cut-off times are met. Co-ordinate and follow up with Counterparties to resolve mismatches/ unmatched trades and fail transactions (morning shift requirement)
  • Monitor interface between the Front office and Back office systems for trade discrepancies or breaks
  • Demonstrate the ability to quickly escalate problems to management and stakeholders for error trades, client inquiry, system performance issues or incidents
  • Perform daily Operations Control reports
  • Perform End of Day control & reports
  • Prepare daily Brokerage reports and End of Day reports to the Desk Heads to sign-off
  • Fulfil any additional/ ad-hoc duties as required to meet business needs
  • Maintain and update Client Contact details in the client contact database
  • Record brokerage for clients with agreements in place and send to the relevant departments to collect
  • Maintain good audit trails, books and records, and SOP/Procedures are up-to-date
  • Support the proper escalation matrix, team structure and management direction
  • Be a role model and provide guidelines & guidance to Junior team members by following the Group, Regional and In-Location Management’s direction and operations strategy, with industry standard and market best practice
  • Assist the Team Leads and Line Manager to deliver & achieve Operational Excellence, Tactical Improvement Plans for Innovation and Triple A Values

Experience / Competences

Essential

  • Minimum 3-5 years+ relevant working experience in Operations, preferably in Equities and Derivatives products.
  • Fluent in English & Cantonese.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, expressive & willing to share thoughts & ideas, positive mindset and attitude, creative and consistent.
  • Work well under pressure and able to meet tight deadlines.
  • Willing to work on public holidays, shifts and tasks in rotation basis
  • Bachelor's degree or above, or with equivalent years of relevant experience

Desired

  • VBA macro skills
  • Project/system migration experience
  • "Middle Office” Trade Booking/ Deal Entry experience ​
