We’re helping the world become more resilient to the impacts of physical climate risks (including floods, fires, storms and more). In doing so, we help drive positive global impact aligned to many of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s).

Our team builds cutting-edge, peer-reviewed science (incorporating climate projections, remote sensing data) and translates that into financial impacts (to the value of assets or business disruption linked to failure of critical infrastructure) that our customers in the financial services industry use to identify, manage and mitigate those risks.

Climate X’s customers include the world’s largest banks, asset managers and insurance companies including CBRE, Standard Chartered, Virgin Money, as well as a partnership ecosystem that includes Deloitte, Capgemini and AWS.  Combined, they manage over $6.5 trillion of assets.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly driven Risk Specialist to join our US sales team, with a background in financial services, particularly in climate physical risk management, who is eager to pivot into a dynamic, client-facing role.

This is a unique opportunity to leverage your expertise in risk management and financial services to drive impact – not just at one company, but across many of the leading financial service institutions including major banks, insurers and asset managers across North America.

We recognise that you may not have past sales experience – Climate X will provide the support and training you need to transition into this role. You’ll be the trusted expert on climate risk for our clients, helping them understand how our climate risk data can drive business value and integrate into their operations and decision-making processes.

This is a unique opportunity. You will be reporting into the Director of Sales –US and be part of the founding US team.

 

The impact you’ll own

  • A dynamic role that cuts across sales leadership and account management where you will be engaging with clients and acting as the voice of expertise from the initial outreach to onboarding.
  • Support sales enablement and marketing initiatives around brand awareness, market positioning and demand generation.
  • Acquire and integrate industry knowledge related to trends, emerging technologies, and competitors.
  • Develop and execute a sales strategy to drive revenue growth in the US financial services and real estate sectors.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key clients, understanding their needs and tailoring solutions to meet their requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with our team of climate scientists, risk analysts, and data scientists in London to develop innovative solutions that address clients' climate risk management needs.
  • Deliver presentations and demonstrations of Spectra to potential clients, explaining its value proposition and unique features.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with clients, ensuring that all terms are aligned with our company's goals and objectives.

 

What you bring

  • A proven track record as an Enterprise Account Executive, driving sales revenues and can demonstrate success managing end-to-end B2B sales cycle, ideally in data, SaaS or technology
  • Experience working in a fast-paced SaaS or technology start-up, with ability to work autonomously and learn at pace
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with ability to work collaboratively with the founding team in our NY office (most days of the week) and meet clients face-to-face actively
  • Experience closing complex deals, multithreading with strong sales and pipeline qualification processes
  • Outstanding relationship management skills, customer obsession and a consultative approach to sales
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to understand complex data and climate models

What makes you stand out

  • Proven track record of sales success in the financial services or real estate/asset management sectors
  • Experience and understanding of banking, risk assessment, and stress testing would be helpful
  • Demonstrable ability to explain complex topics catered to different audiences, seniority levels & sectors
  • Experience with HubSpot (or equivalent CRM tool)
  • Knowledge of climate modelling and analytics
  • Passionate about climate change and its impact on the global economy
