Role Description 

You will be joining the Regulatory team at Datamaran at an exciting growth point for the company to support critical functions of the team, including assisting with regulatory research, analyzing regulations with the help of artificial intelligence (AI), performing data entry and implementing data quality checks, and generally supporting Datamaran’s regulatory database maintenance and enhancement. 

You understand the scope and purpose of our regulatory database, and you work to improve our coverage and processes, particularly for US-related legal developments. You can judge and defend why specific research should be carried out and why some initiatives should be added or excluded from our database.

You are passionate about the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) regulatory landscape and familiar with the global sustainability reporting landscape. You have a legal or legal-related background and are familiar with diverse legal systems worldwide, but particularly with the USA system. You understand the policy-making process and are acquainted with the structure of hard laws and soft norms. 

You will have the opportunity to learn about the synergies between law, ESG risk analysis, materiality analysis, and the use of technology. You will be joining an international network of talented professionals from whom you will get full support and guidance, with an expectation that you are also self-sufficient and autonomous. You will drive your opportunities to grow. 

Breakdown of role:

Regulatory research (40%)

  • Research regulatory initiatives, national and international regulations, EU Directives, reporting frameworks, guidelines, and industry initiatives ESG related. Special focus on the USA at the federal and state level 
  • Lead on USA-related research projects where coverage of policy initiatives is low or needs expansion, including assessing the need for further expansion of policy sources and policy-makers currently tracked
  • Being a point of contact for colleagues to assist with questions related to USA-related legal developments, especially regarding the scope, coverage, content, or use of our database. You should also be equipped to answer any generic questions that come from coworkers or clients

Regulatory analysis & data entry (40%)

  • Perform regulatory analysis & data entry process (assisted by AI)
  • Undertake quality checks of data entry & analyses carried out by other members of the team

Support critical functions of the team (20%)

  • Support data quality projects under the direction of Datamaran’s Regulatory Data Associate
  • Support ontology-related projects
  • Support “ad-hoc” research requests

The role requires that our Data Analysts are prepared to work on a hybrid basis, flexibly from our Valencia office and should therefore be located in Valencia, or within commutable distance (ideally >60 minutes direct)
