A Senior Relay Technician Trainer, reporting to the Regional Training Manager, will receive guidance from both the regional and relay program manager. You must have the ability to lead, plan, determine priorities, problem solve and provide solutions, and prescribe the processes needed to achieve objectives within the framework of the Power Grid Operations operating policies. You will be responsible for providing effective training to the Grid Operations-Relay and Generation employees from our relay levels curriculum, supporting event free environment. This entails instructing technical construction, maintenance, equipment, computer applications, and provide support to the craft employees. You will also support new hire process, conducts benchmarking with industry groups/peer utilities, negotiates training priorities and secures resources for critical training tasks, evaluates overall training program effectiveness, and conducts field assessments to validate adherence to training standards. Provides evaluations/testing of skills and knowledge required to progress through the apprenticeship program and share with leadership.
High School/GED AND five (5) years minimum required related experience
Valid Driver’s License
Associate degree in electrical/electronic engineering, electrical utility substation and relay technology, or 5 years related experience in protective relay industry in any of the following areas: distribution, generations, or transmission
3 years technical training experience or 10 years related experience in protective relay industry in any of the following areas: distribution, generations, or transmission
Knowledge of testing electromechanical, solid-state, and microprocessor relays from manufactures such as ABB, Basler, General Electric, RFL, Schweitzer, Siemens, and Westinghouse
The abilities to explain logic, schematic, and wiring prints
Knowledge of NERC Reliability Standards
Ability to analyze and apply new training methods, applications, trends, and events impacting the field of adult learning
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
Demonstrated oral and written communication and presentation skills for communicating information and addressing issues in a clear and effective manner to varying levels of employees and management
Experience in effectively managing of employee issues and proper coaching methods
Ability to utilizing proper use of tools and equipment
Ability to facilitate groups and presentation/public speaking skills
Effective verbal and written communications skills
Ability to effectively communicate technical information
Onsite Mobility Classification – Work will be performed at a company facility.
Work Schedule: 4-10s, typically 6:00 AM – 5:00 PM
