EV Charging Deployment Project Manager - Design and Utility Coordination

Role Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and proactive Project Manager to join our team, focusing on initial site conceptual site design, estimating, and utility coordination for Electric Vehicle (EV) fast charging station deployment. As part of the Implementation team this role will determine optimal site designs to deliver a best-in-class charging experience while reducing construction costs and lead all utility engagement to secure new or upgraded utility service for each site.  This role will be an integral part of the Implementation team and involved at the individual project level. This individual will be pivotal in managing site assessments and innovating solutions for DC fast charging site implementation with convenience stores, gas stations, quick-service restaurants, and other site hosts.

Responsibilities:

1. Support deployment and execution for DC fast charging installations through front-end site assessment, high level design, initial cost estimating and utility coordination.
2. Develop standard site designs based on parameters from Engineering and Site Acquisition teams.
3. Work with the Implementation team to modify site designs and/or develop new site designs to accommodate potential site constraints.
4. Manage vendor partners responsible for engineered construction drawings.
5. Review plans for right-of-way/easement/property acquisitions at a project level.
6. Serve as the main point of contact with utility companies to submit applications for service and manage the utility upgrade process.
7. Review and approve any changes to site designs at a project level.
8. Lead continuous improvement of the site design process to continually improve speed to market and charging customer experience.
9. Responsible for initiating, tracking and managing utility applications and advocating for improvements.
10. Actively manage the utility relationship for distribution, transmission, and substation upgrades needed to build charger projects
11. Facilitate field site visits for due diligence on construction, engineering, utility, and cost. Provide site reports and sketches as needed

1. Support additional tasks across design, installation, construction and commissioning as needed according to business growth.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills:

1. 3+ years of experience in EV charging site design and construction required
2. Associate's or Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Landscape Architecture or related field from an accredited program.
3. General understanding of site design, utility requirements, AHJ permitting process and construction plan preparation.
4. Proficiency or familiarity with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office suite of programs.
5. Demonstrated background in leading charging network deployment
6. Detailed understanding of the current public fast charging landscape
7. Exceptional communication and project management skills to effectively progress discussions with important stakeholders.
