The Regulatory Assistant will assist with the coordination of regulatory and policy activity that impacts the Company’s business matters in South Carolina. This position is required to effectively collaborate with internal stakeholders: Legal, Federal Affairs, Government and Community Relations teams and supporting business functions, as well as key external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Assists in the preparation of documentation to support SC state proceedings and policy related activity
Manages preparation for events involving Duke Energy activity related to SC
Researches and analyzes state legislative, regulatory and policy activity, as it relates to advancing energy policy and initiatives
Manages the administration and internal collaboration necessary for government/regulatory filings and compliance processes and ensures effectiveness
Manage all related files/collateral: Integrated Timeline, Financial Analysis, Scope, and Risks
Assists in the creation of presentation materials for senior executives on regulatory and policy matters
Oversees the integrity of data and reports out on status of key actions needed to support jurisdictional strategic initiatives
Provides administrative and office management support including calendaring assistance necessary for collaboration of multiple groups to ensure productive and efficient working conditions as required
Assists in materials preparation, copying, travel arrangements, expense reporting & budgeting
Key Skills, Experience and Abilities
A self-starter with basic predicate knowledge who is willing to learn and drive internal and external collaboration;
Has demonstrated ability to prepare compelling presentations on complicated subject matter;
Can work best with little supervision but is willing to ask questions, as needed;
Prioritizes matters but can also shift priorities when business needs require;
Possesses strong business acumen or aptitude with a good understanding of how government works;
Demonstrates strong people skills to encourage collaboration;
Experience with videoconferencing, Microsoft Teams and SharePoint a plus
Basic/Required Qualifications
Associates degree AND three (3) years minimum of related work experience
In lieu of associate's degree, high school diploma/GED AND seven (7) years minimum of related work experience
Desired Qualifications
Familiarity with SC legal, governmental or regulatory environment, prior experience with legal or regulatory work, financial reporting, and project management desirable.
1-to-3 plus years in a legal, regulatory or agency work environment
Ability to analyze, establish priorities, make timely and effective decisions
Strong attention to detail and anticipating requests and needs of the business
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Familiarity with Outlook, Microsoft Office including Work, Power Point, and Excel
Working Conditions
M - F, 3 days per week in office
Hybrid mobility classification - work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable commute to the posted reporting location.
