Position Overview: 

As the Senior Manager of Electrical Systems for our Energy Storage Solutions (ESS) team, you will be at the forefront of designing and scaling our gigawatt-scale battery electrical and control systems. This executive role requires a blend of visionary leadership and hands-on engineering expertise, particularly in embedded systems. You will steer the development and implementation of Peak Energy’s electrical systems, ensuring they meet our strategic objectives and are executed successfully. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Define and drive the overall electrical systems design strategy for Peak Energy’s ESS, from initial concept through to production and continuous improvement. 
  • Lead the integration of battery management, power conversion, and supervisory control modules, working closely with internal teams and external partners to align development cycles and ensure successful implementation. 
  • Provide leadership in embedded systems engineering, ensuring that embedded software and firmware are effectively integrated with hardware components and meet performance and reliability standards. 
  • Build and mentor a high-performing team of electrical engineers and embedded systems specialists, fostering a culture of innovation, rapid prototyping, and iterative testing. 
  • Oversee the development of electrical component requirements and ensure the successful execution of system testing, integration, validation, and production. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, and external stakeholders, to provide direction and leadership on electrical systems, controls, and embedded engineering. 
  • Drive continuous improvement in electrical systems design practices, tools, and infrastructure to support the growth of Peak Energy’s ESS capabilities. 
  • Address complex engineering challenges with a proactive and hands-on approach, ensuring the timely and effective resolution of issues. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. 
  • 10+ years of experience in high-voltage systems engineering, with a proven track record of leading complex electrical system designs and implementations. 
  • Strong fundamentals in electrical and controls engineering, with extensive experience in high-voltage system design. 
  • Proficiency in embedded systems engineering, including embedded software and firmware development, and experience with relevant tools and methodologies. 
  • Proficiency in electrical engineering tools (e.g., SPICE, Altium, Matlab) and hands-on experience with prototyping, validation, and testing. 
  • Demonstrated ability to manage the design and manufacturing of medium to high-volume products. 
  • A passion for renewable energy and sustainability, with a drive to make a positive environmental impact through technological innovation. 
  • Eligibility to work in the U.S. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • In-depth knowledge of battery chemistry, Battery Management Systems (BMS), and relevant electrical and safety standards. 
  • Experience in power electronics design and supervisory control systems. 
  • Background in utility-scale energy storage systems and their unique challenges and requirements.
