Kraken, a part of the Octopus Energy Group, is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Technical Accountant with a strong background in enterprise SaaS, IFRS and international tax. This role is ideal for someone who can provide strategic financial insights and guide the business through complex accounting matters. You will be instrumental in ensuring compliance with international tax laws and supporting large-scale SaaS deals, as Kraken continues its global expansion.


What you'll do

  • Provide technical accounting advice on significant transactions, including revenue recognition, SaaS licensing, acquisitions and global expansion initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accounting standards are upheld, offering guidance on complex accounting issues.
  • Manage the end-to-end process for international tax compliance, working with external advisors and internal stakeholders.
  • Support the finance and legal teams in structuring and negotiating large SaaS contracts, providing expertise in accounting treatment and tax implications.
  • Drive the development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures, and controls aligned with both local and international regulatory requirements.
  • Lead or contribute to special projects, including audits, mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate activities that require technical accounting expertise.

What you'll need

  • Experience working at an accounting firm with a focus on enterprise SaaS and international tax.
  • ACA, ACCA, or equivalent qualification.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, US GAAP, and revenue recognition principles for SaaS (ASC 606).
  • Demonstrated experience in dealing with international tax laws and compliance.
  • Ability to provide strategic accounting advice on complex, large-scale SaaS deals.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to influence decision-making at senior levels.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

We would prefer someone who can work in our London office but will consider remote candidates. However, you do need to be able to work in the UK.
