JOB OVERVIEW
Laurentis is seeking results-driven, ambitious, and strategic engineering professionals to join our CNP SA Team. In this role, the successful candidates will carry out or assist in the preparation of assigned aspects of design projects, using standard engineering or scientific methods and techniques. The candidates will also, carry out or assist with analyses of engineering designs covering equipment, and process systems, ensuring design parameters are met.
Laurentis and Canadian Nuclear Partners are looking for Expert Design Engineers in the following disciplines:
Mechanical Engineering
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Carrying out or assisting in the preparation of assigned aspects of design projects, using standard engineering or scientific methods and techniques and with instructions on certain aspects of the work.
Working with established designs or direction governing new or advanced approaches.
Carrying out or assisting with special studies or analyses for the definition and solution of problems, or for economic or efficiency improvement considerations or plant systems engineering roles.
Participating in the preparation of specifications, procedures, estimates for small or large projects.
Visiting project sites to obtain data and review progress with customers, contractors and vendors, and to become familiar with the operating environment.
Carrying out or assisting in engineering or scientific analyses of designs.
Participating in analyses and discussions with contractors and customers, regarding matters of design, cost, availability, schedule, manufacturing technique, performance tests, etc.
Preparing data for recommendations to achieve work objectives; ability to work with others, including customers, construction workers and contractors, in the resolution of problems.
Participating on multidisciplinary project teams to interface the engineering and construction services effort with the requirements of other contributors or stakeholders.
Maintaining an awareness of state-of-the-art of the engineering profession and new advances in engineering design, methods, materials, etc.
Developing, reviewing, updating, modifying, and approving design plans and work schedules.
Communicating with other team members to project workload and resources
Generating drawings and calculations and reviewing or verifying those of others
Authoring official documents including letters, reports, specifications, and requirements
Conducting research, performing diagnostics, and troubleshooting equipment
EDUCATION
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in relevant engineering discipline
QUALIFICATIONS
Direct involvement in a CANDU Refurbishment Project/Organization will be an advantageIn depth knowledge of site outage/installation/maintenance of CANDU Nuclear Power Plants
Codes and Standards related to piping design (nuclear and non-nuclear piping)
Piping stress analysis using pipe analysis software most commonly used in the industry
Preparation of design specification and design reports
Experience with field change implementation processes
Familiarity with system/piping/components registration process in Ontario.
Familiarity with system/piping/components registration process in Romania (with ISCR) would be an asset.
Pipe support design
Comprehensive understanding of CANDU technology and operations, with expertise in design engineering
Demonstrated ability to deliver high quality products under tight timelines and high pressure to support unit restart schedules
A Professional Engineer of Ontario (PEO) or eligible for PEO status with a passion for engineering
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and have demonstrated a high commitment to quality
Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team situation
Romanian Language proficiency would be beneficial, but is not a requirement
Strong attention to detail and to quality assurance requirements
Experience in project management is an asset
Excellent problem-solving skills and experience in leading technical projects to successful completion
Demonstrated capability to manage and lead
In depth knowledge and extensive experience with the following:
10 years relevant experience, with a minimum of 5 years of experience working with CANDU Nuclear Power Plants
