We’re seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our fast paced and growing Finance team at Octopus Energy Services (OES), as a Financial Analyst.

In this role, you’ll support the FP&A Manager and OES finance team, collaborating across teams to deliver insights and inform business decisions.  You will be responsible for analysing financial data and assisting with financial planning and analysis, working closely with senior management to provide accurate financial information and support decision-making.




What you'll do

  • Develop and maintain OES’ financial model, including rebuilding the model to incorporate longer-term planning
  • Assist with the budgeting process, including cost validation and data gathering from internal departments
  • Drive the development of key reporting, including unit economic analyses for products we install (Heat Pumps, Solar Systems, EV Chargers, Smart Meters)
  • Provide monthly financial reporting and analysis required by senior management, including variance analysis against the budget
  • Develop queries and interrogate data in our systems to i) answer key business questions, ii) add new analysis and insight, and iii) improve forecasts of key metrics
  • Analyse KPIs to identify trends and opportunities for improving business performance
  • Collaborate with internal departments to track key costs and analyse variances to the budget
  • Work with relevant stakeholders to understand the business and maintain shared information, trackers, and data as necessary
  • Identify opportunities to improve existing reporting and business processes
  • Provide support with ad-hoc analytical exercises as needed

What you'll need

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in finance or data analysis, with a keen interest in or knowledge of finance.
  • Experience with financial modelling in Excel.
  • An accounting or finance qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) is preferred but not essential
  • A strong analytical mindset and a passion for solving complex problems.
  • Enthusiasm for streamlining processes and taking responsibility for specific areas.
  • Advanced IT and data skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information effectively to management.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships with management.
  • Highly organised, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively to meet deadlines.
