The role:

We are seeking an exceptional commercial lawyer who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and is eager to pursue lofty goals and challenges. To succeed in this position, you must be comfortable working independently — executing efficiently and making defensible decisions on behalf of Altruistiq. You will handle customer and supplier contract negotiations and advise on a broad range of other issues important to Altruistiq’s business. We are growing rapidly, and this role has the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to our continued success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead customer contracting processes:
    • Review, draft and negotiate SaaS licensing and professional service agreements related to our core business
    • Identify and implement processes to streamline negotiations
    • Develop training materials to support our sales team to navigate the contracting process more effectively
  • Be a legal thought-partner to the broader business:
    • Support functional leaders with the review and negotiation of supplier contracts
    • Provide legal guidance to business teams across a range of legal, regulatory and contractual topics
    • Provide legal guidance to support optimal outcome of litigation/regulatory disputes, including sourcing external advice where appropriate

Requirements:

  • UK qualified
  • 6-10 years post qualification experience
  • Strong track record of success at a top law firm, followed by at least 2 years of in-house experience. Prior experience focused on software licensing is a plus.
  • Experience in drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts, with exposure to intellectual property, GDPR and data protection issues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to understand complex contractual issues, assess risk and exercise strong business judgment — taking clear ownership of end outcomes, while being an excellent team player
