About Us

The future of transportation is electric, and our software solves the most critical emerging grid integration challenges to ensure that the impending energy transition is clean, equitable, and resilient. Our enterprise solutions help the grid absorb the coming electrification wave with ease. Utilizing modern, cloud-native platform architecture and robust systems optimization, WeaveGrid’s software is built from the ground up to tackle the most critical network challenges while meeting the stringent regulatory, security, and reliability requirements of the utility industry.

About The Role

At WeaveGrid, we are working to accelerate the electrification of transportation and the decarbonization of the electric grid.  Our SaaS products monitor and manage the charging of electric vehicles on behalf of electric utilities to serve the needs of drivers and the health of the electric grid.

We are looking for a strong senior full stack engineer to help us reduce the cost of deploying our SaaS solutions to our different utility, regulator, and automaker clients as well as expand our platform to meet those clients’ growing needs around EV management.  No previous experience in the energy sector is required.

In this role, we will ask you to:

  • Design, develop, and evolve WeaveGrid’s data systems and products key to delivering our signature managed charging programs, ensuring that all features are fully manageable by non-software engineers upon completion.
  • Contribute to high-impact projects aligned with the company's strategic roadmap while also delivering client-focused programs that ensure our SaaS platform meets the needs of clients in their highly regulated environment.
  • Design and co-develop integrations and APIs in partnership with electric utility clients.
  • Provide technical leadership and hands-on implementation to maintain and enhance the reliability, robustness, and maintainability of our complex distributed system, ensuring that our core product continues to scale effectively.
  • Work closely with other engineers and product stakeholders to extend our product capabilities and/or improve reliability, data quality, effectiveness, and scalability of existing offerings.
  • Work productively with our AWS-based cloud production environment e.g. rollouts & use Containers, Kubernetes, AWS, GitHub, Jira/Confluence, and CircleCI in our development process.
  • Develop new features and system architecture on the backend of the Weavegrid stack: python+graphQL+react+mariadb+k8s+aws.
  • Special projects and other duties as designated by your manager or assigned designee.

About You

  • You want to apply your talents to meaningfully address climate change.
  • You’re excited to collaborate with passionate team members during reasonable local working hours (Pacific Time). If local to the SF Bay Area, you are excited about our office and a flexible office schedule.
  • You care about the craft of software. You feel a sense of ownership about code. You enjoy solving hard problems and don’t mind the complexity of software that interacts with “the real world”.
  • You are able to work in a growing codebase and mature its interfaces and increase its robustness over time.
  • You are able to help your team and associated UI/UX partner teams to develop helpful visualization of the output of your system for the internal and external end users.
  • You have an interest in cloud-based backend data systems, software operating in highly regulated environments, and data quality management that turns messy data into valuable business assets.  Past experience working in these areas is a huge plus!
  • You have solid experience working in Python and either past experience or a willingness to learn GraphQL and React.
  • You enjoy being hands-on in the full lifecycle of software development - from early design to testing, production deployment, and post-launch iteration, to measuring and monitoring outcomes, and quickly fixing problems that may arise.
  • You are comfortable working within a microservice based architecture and have experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or other microservice technologies.
  • You appreciate Agile software development and DevOps practices.
  • You have experience working on smaller teams or at smaller companies and are willing to share that experience to make us better.
  • You believe in constant learning and are excited to help us build this growing company.

The total compensation for this opportunity includes a base salary range of $160,000 - $200,000 plus equity (stock options) and benefits. This is our target compensation range and is subject to multiple factors including role, level, experience, and location. Please note that WeaveGrid may not necessarily hire individuals at or near the top of the base salary range. As you go through our interview process, our recruiter will work with you to identify a competitive base salary within the proposed range and combine it with an equity package to get you excited about your future at WeaveGrid.
