Position Summary

Help Ava Community Energy inform local residents and businesses that they are receiving greener energy at lower rates! Ava is hiring a full-time Outreach Coordinator for San Joaquin County to join the Marketing team. The Outreach Coordinator will be reporting to the Marketing Director. Ava is the third largest CCA supplier of clean electricity in California and in 2025, we'll begin service in Stockton and Lathrop. We're looking for a dynamic team member who wants to help community members understand and take advantage of the benefits available to them when Ava comes to town. The successful candidate will partner with community organizations, coordinate Ava’s participation in local events, and directly interact with our customers while providing information and answering questions.

 

Position Details
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with an established list and/or identify opportunities for Ava to engage with community groups and at community events. Ava attends and/or sponsors dozens of events throughout our service area. External stakeholders include the cities of Stockton, Lathrop and Tracy, SJ County, and local non-profit organizations.

    • Research and identify appropriate community groups to partner with

    • Identify correct contact and create relationship

    • Identify existing events or other opportunities for Ava participation that allow Ava to increase brand exposure and engage with different segments of the community

    • Determine if there is an opportunity for a unique event that focuses on Ava’s services and programs

    • Schedule Ava’s participation in events, coordinate informational materials and branded swag, and staff events

    • Deliver webinars and presentations to members of the public/community

      • Schedule and conduct informational webinars for customers

  • Community Sponsorships

    • Assisting the Marketing Director in planning and activating sponsorship of local events, sports teams, etc.

    • Participate in process 3x per year for selecting and issuing Community Sponsorships, and following up with recipients to nurture the relationship. 

    • Participate in the selection of larger sponsorships

  • Assisting the Marketing & Programs teams on an ad-hoc basis

  • Community/Customer Outreach

    • Manage tactical elements of community outreach, including:

      • Manage, plan, ensure sufficient staffing, and attend Ava’s participation in outreach events

      • Coordinate with Oakland-based Outreach Coordinator to keep outreach materials up to date and swag in stock

      • Report out on events activities at monthly team meetings

  • Provide in-language outreach and communications support to entire Marketing and Account Services teams

    • Ensure delivery of informational webinars in non-English languages

    • Facilitate translations of web and other customer-facing content in Spanish 

    • Proactively identify ways that Ava can improve our website content to make it more accessible and useful for the public, including non-English languages

      • Coordinate translations with vendor(s) as needed

  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must have a Driver's License and a car to be able to transport marketing materials to events (Ava reimburses for mileage and associated cost of travel)

  • Interest in both the energy sector and delivering an excellent customer experience

  • Flexible/adjusted work hours (expected to be 40 hrs/wk; must be willing to work weekends and some evening events) 

  • Experience in customer service

  • Excellent verbal communication skills

  • Ability to clearly communicate with direct supervisor

  • Manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced dynamic environment

  • Demonstrate patience, tact, and courtesy; exercise sound judgment, creative problem solving, and effective dispute resolution

  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

  • Spanish speaking (required)

  • Living in San Joaquin county and familiarity with San Joaquin County and local public events preferred

  • Ability to act as a representative for San Joaquin County

 

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly rate for this position is $36.63 per hour (equates to annual estimated rate of $78,280 per year, with a Total Compensation of up to $82,977 annually based on performance).

Location and Working Conditions
This position will be based in San Joaquin County. Ava's team has a hybrid approach inclusive of in-office and remote work. This role is expected to go into office at Ava headquarters in Oakland, near BART 1 day a week plus 3 days once a quarter (during our quarterly all staff week). We are not providing sponsorships currently.
