What You Will Do:
 As an R&D Technician, you will play an essential role in supporting the research and development of Sperra’s 3D concrete printing technologies. You will work closely with the R&D team, assisting with equipment setup, operation, and maintenance at our Bergen, NY facility. You will also contribute to the development of new printing methods and assist in data collection and analysis.
 
Primary responsibilities:
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot 3D concrete printing system and other mechanical equipment
  • Assist in setting up experiments, including material preparation and equipment calibration
  • Carry out hands-on fabrication and assembly of manufacturing equipment and prototypes 
  • Monitor and record data during tests and experiments
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment as needed
  • Ensure that all work is performed in compliance with safety standards and protocols
  • Assist with inventory management, material sourcing, and procurement of supplies
  • Contribute to project documentation and reporting
  • Other duties as assigned
 
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
  • Associate degree or technical certification in a relevant field (Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field)
  • 1-2 years of hands-on experience in an industrial, lab, or manufacturing setting
  • Familiarity with 3D printing, CNC machining, or other additive manufacturing processes
  • Experience with mechanical tools and equipment (e.g., power tools, machine shop tools)
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and organizational skills
  • Ability to follow technical instructions and work independently when required
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
 
Preferred:
  • Experience with concrete or construction materials
  • Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks)
  • Knowledge of mechanical testing equipment and procedures
