Job Description
Overview
The P2 Electrical Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing dry type transformers and related components. As an intermediate-level engineer, the P2 role involves applying developing expertise to contribute to projects and tasks under the guidance of more senior engineers. This role includes collaboration with cross-functional teams and opportunities to develop technical skills. The P2 Design Engineer plays a key role in supporting design initiatives and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop electrical systems and components for distribution dry type transformers, PDUs, Reactors and Special transformers, ensuring compliance with industry standards (e.g., UL, CSA, IEEE, NEMA) and customer specifications.
- Conduct basic engineering analyses to support product performance, cost optimization, and efficiency improvements.
- Support failure analysis on design-related issues under the supervision of senior engineers, contributing to identifying root causes and corrective actions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality assurance, and supply chain, to ensure successful integration of designs into production.
- Participate in design reviews and provide technical support to ensure designs meet project and customer requirements.
- Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, including design specifications and test plans, under supervision.
- Stay informed on industry trends and regulatory changes to assist in maintaining competitive and compliant designs.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by supporting efforts to improve processes and product designs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 2-3 years of experience minimum in electrical and mechanical engineering, with a focus on dry type transformer or related product design.
- Proficiency with basic design and analysis tools, including electrical and thermal analysis software (e.g., OPS Transformer Design Software, SolidWorks).
- Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., UL, CSA, IEEE, NEMA) and regulatory requirements for transformers and components.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to learn and apply technical knowledge under supervision.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, capable of collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Organized, with the ability to handle multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines.
