We're seeking a Team Lead in Business Intelligence (BI) who will provide high-impact insights on performance, issues, and opportunities to Ecosia’s Executive, Product, and Marketing teams. These insights will be based on both technical and financial data from multiple sources.
The role demands a forward-thinking leader capable of aligning data resources and financial stewardship.
What you'll be doing:
Own and improve information infrastructure delivering trusted and high-impact data
Regularly scan operational systems for significant deviations and ensure the delivery of accurate, timely, and high-value data to senior management.
Continuously improve processes for data collection, analysis, and reporting to enhance efficiency and reliability while respecting Ecosia’s strong privacy value proposition to users.
Build and maintain effective relationships with Product and Marketing to ensure their data needs are met in a reliable, timely, and efficient way.
Lead data analysis and synthesize insights into actionable business recommendations
Lead thorough analysis of relevant KPI changes and ensure that the right statistical tools are used.
Conduct regular audits of BI infrastructure, tools, and processes, ensuring they meet current and future business requirements.
Synthesize insights into lean, clear, and actionable recommendations.
Control the financial impact of key company initiatives
Evaluate the financial performance of key initiatives and alert management on deviations
Evaluate financial and technical progress on company targets and provide actionable insights that improve business performance
Regularly evaluate revenue streams, market expansion opportunities, and other areas of growth or improvement, presenting these insights to the executive team

What you bring:
5-7+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, or a related field, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
Effective communication and presentation skills to translate complex data into actionable insights and business impact for executive and non-technical stakeholders.
Hands-on expertise in analytics and data visualization tools (i.e. Looker, Google Analytics, Tableau, Power BI, SQL), and statistical analysis.
Documented history of using data to facilitate growth in areas such as marketing performance, revenue optimization, and user acquisition, including the design or transformation of the underlying information infrastructures.
Understanding of modern data architecture and a strong understanding of data ingestion (AWS Kinesis, Kafka), scalable storage (AWS Redshift, S3), transformation of raw data into insight-ready formats (Spark), reliable infrastructure (Terraform), and data workflows and automation (Airflow, dbt) to ensure data quality and accessibility across the organization.
Respect for privacy and awareness of relevant legislation in the EU and the US.
Enthusiasm for the preservation of Earth’s life support systems.
Nice to have:
Experience with AI and/or Machine Learning, logged-in user data, and very large data sets.
Experience in a B2C tech company, ideally in search and/or digital advertising, with a focus on frontend tracking analytics.
