Position Summary: 
 
The Communications Manager is responsible for managing the implementation of EVgo’s corporate messaging. The role will involve managing EVgo’s external media relations agency, close collaboration with the Company’s investor relations team and associated consultants, as well as content creation, drafting press releases, cultivating EVgo’s media relations strategy for both business and financial media, and working closely with cross-functional teams on execution of messaging campaigns, events and other public-facing initiatives. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working at a publicly traded company. 
 
Responsibilities: 
  • Write press releases and social media content in alignment with strategic communications goals 
  • Develop PR campaigns in collaboration with EVgo’s external media relations agency and EVgo Communications Director 
  • Monitor press alias for media inbounds and triage inquiries in concert with EVgo’s media agency  
  • Synthesize technical information from cross-functional teams to support external messaging and media response needs in a timely manner 
  • Assist with media spokesperson interview prep 
  • Perform communications research and monitor the progress of various communications efforts, contributing to strategic communications planning and messaging narrative 
  • Support earnings call preparations and collaborate with Investor Relations on messaging strategies 
  • Partner with Market Development & Public Policy team on strategic communications campaigns to support policy objectives  
  • Provide messaging support to customer service teams and escalate issues as appropriate 
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to execute ribbon cuttings and speaking engagements  
  • Facilitate creative asset development as needed with Marketing team  
  • Perform monthly and quarterly data reporting functions for the Communications team 
  • Additional duties as assigned 
Required Skills/Experience: 
  • At least 5-8 years of experience in a marketing or communications role, clean transportation or energy industry experience desired 
  • Bachelor’s Degree or commensurate experience, major in Communications, Journalism, English, Public Relations or related field preferred 
  • Experience working at a publicly traded company and interacting with both business and financial media outlets 
  • Superior written and verbal communications skills and a confident presenter 
  • Experience with AP editing and proofreading, understanding of collateral layout and design, including ability to present concepts verbally 
  • Familiarity with current media landscape and topical issues in energy sector 
  • Strong track record of relationship management and stakeholder engagement 
  • Previous experience managing staff, consultants or contracted agencies 
  • Ability to take initiative to develop new strategies and proactively solve problems  
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, and proven ability to meet quick-turn deadlines requiring high-quality written output 
  • Capable of working well as part of a team in a remote environment, as well as being a self-motivated individual contributor 
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office (must have advanced experience with PowerPoint) 
  • Ability and willingness to travel on a quarterly basis for in-person departmental meetings, with occasional travel for critical event support  
  • Experience with OKR framework is a plus  
  • This position is remote with a preference for candidates in Los Angeles, San Francisco, or Washington, D.C.   
The estimated salary range for this position is $105,000 USD to $125,000 USD. Actual salary may vary depending on job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition to a competitive base salary, we offer discretionary target cash bonuses, restricted stock units (subject to Board Approval), and a comprehensive benefits package including health, life, and disability insurance, unbounded paid time off including parental leave, and a 401(k).
