We are growing and currently looking for a Software Engineering Manager to join our Technology team!

About Orbisk:

At Orbisk, we are on a mission to create a sustainable future by achieving an ambitious goal: zero food waste. We're looking for individuals who want to join our motivated team, where impact is at the heart of everything we do, and be part of our collective effort to build a better world. 🌍 To grow our impact as a ‘green’ stain, serving our customers and focusing on innovation is at our core. By embracing a culture of continuous learning, we listen to what our customers need and adapt, improve and enhance our sustainable solution. We are there to build long-term relationships and be a partner to our customers. Orbisk isn't just about technology; we are a driver for sustainable change, contributing to a positive transformation around the globe. Our hardware already helped eliminate a whopping 430,000 kg of food waste in over 30 countries, and we’re just getting started!🌱

What will you be doing?

As our Software Engineering Manager, you will be the strategic and operational counterpart of our CTO and Co-founder Bart van Arnhem. You’ll have many hats including:

  • Vision Implementation: Collaborate closely with the CTO, the Product Owner & the Engineering Manager to translate the company's vision into actionable strategies for the Software team, which means you will be on top of roadmap planning.

  • Team Empowerment & People Manager: Lead, inspire, and empower our software teams to develop innovative solutions in the fight against food waste in hospitality. You will keep the team motivated by setting clear goals, making decisions, maintaining the right culture, motivation and learning environment. This includes the performance cycles and 1-on-1’s.

  • Project Management Coordination: Facilitate collaboration with other engineers from other teams, having understanding of the projects your team is currently working on. This includes resource allocation and overseeing project timelines.

Why join Orbisk?

For a whole menu of reasons. Some lofty (reducing food waste also reduces our collective CO2 and H2O footprints), others more down-to-earth. After all, joining a scale-up that disrupts an entire industry is also just plain fun. And a great conversation starter. Especially if that team is as driven and adventurous as ours. We also offer you:

  • €6.000 - €7.000 gross p/m (depending on knowledge and experience)

  • To take a break to recharge, we encourage you to take 30 days of annual leave per year

  • To support your learning and growth we offer an annual personal education budget of €500

  • Next to this, we organize additional team learning activities

  • Everyone has different needs when it comes to benefits. That’s why we offer you a flexible spending budget of € 40 per month. This can be spent on a variety of health and wellness options!

  • To ensure you are taken care of later on, we have a pension contribution

  • With your manager, you will have growth conversations, and if needed you can also have a chat with a career coach

  • An annual home office budget of €250, so you can create a nice work-from-home space

  • We make sure we regularly organize company activities to connect with our colleagues

  • We are B corp certified, so of course, sustainability runs through our veins

  • Last but not least, a dynamic environment and a passionate, close-knit team all working together towards an ambitious goal

Your track record mentions

  • 3+ years of experience managing development team(s) in a typical startup environment; fast moving, high growth, sometimes chaotic.

  • Experience in hiring technical talent, especially software developers & strategically scaling teams.

  • Background in software development, particularly in designing and programming services.

  • An added plus is having experience with managing teams through performance management frameworks like OKRs.

  • You are an effective communicator with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.

  • Proven ability to inspire and energize teams, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
