Job Description
The Biodiversity Manager will be responsible for all biodiversity matters for the Project, as outlined in the Project ESAP, to ensure implementation of the project’s biodiversity obligations, plans and procedures.
Please note the role location is split between the UAE and Zarafshan Project site in Uzbekistan.
Responsibilities not limited to:
- Lead implementation and reporting on the Construction Biodiversity Management Plan.
- Direct oversight of EPC activities during site clearance, with specific reference to protected species of hetero-fauna (2 species), flora (6 species) and terrestrial mammals (2 species) present onsite.
- Management and oversight of annual bird population studies and a single bat studies.
- Preparation and implementation of the Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP) for relevant flora species, monitoring and reporting.
- Preparation and implementation of the Habitats offset study, monitoring and reporting.
- Advise on the installation and configuration of the Identiflight SoD system.
- Drafting of the Operational Biodiversity Management Plan for Lender approval.
- Lead the implementation of the Post Construction Fatality Monitoring procedure, regularly analyse and report on outcomes.
- Manage the operational biodiversity team, including the 2 ornithologist verifying IDF performance, the 6 PCFM search technicians, and interact with the Independent Ornithological Expert as required.
- Liaison with Uzbek biodiversity authorities, e.g. ecology centre.
- Targeted support to Masdar Clean Energy ESG team on biodiversity aspects [>10% time].
