Carba has created the most efficient, scalable, and cost-effective way to turn back the clock and mitigate the worst effects of climate change by permanently removing billions of tons of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. We have developed a technology that makes slow pyrolysis fast, turning waste biomass into stable charcoal (solid carbon) which can be buried for permanent carbon sequestration, used in materials to replace fossil use, or used as a soil amendment.
We are looking for a great Project Engineer to join Carba’s engineering team. The role will focus on engineering project management, OEM management, and equipment design, installation and commissioning. The candidate must be passionate, hardworking, innovative, hands on and thrive in collaborative, fast moving teams. The role will report to Carba’s Head of Engineering.
Objectives and Responsibilities:
● Engineering Project Management
○ Lead cross-functional engineering projects from conception through completion
○ Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets
○ Coordinate project activities across engineering, supply chain, manufacturing and field operations teams
○ Identify and manage project risks, issues and scope changes
○ Provide regular project status updates to leadership and key stakeholders
● OEM Management
○ Primary point of contact for Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) partners
○ Manage OEM relationships, contracts, and performance
○ Coordinate with OEMs on equipment specifications, customization, delivery and support
○ Work with OEMs to resolve any technical issues or warranty claims
○ Continuously assess OEM capabilities and identify opportunities for improvement
● Equipment Design, Installation & Commissioning:
○ Oversee design, installation and commissioning of Carba's pyrolysis equipment at customer sites
○ Work with engineering team to optimize equipment design for performance,
reliability and manufacturability
○ Develop equipment installation plans, procedures, and checklists
○ Oversee equipment installation and commissioning, ensuring all safety and quality standards are met
○ Train customers on equipment operation and maintenance
○ Provide on-site troubleshooting and engineering support as needed
Qualifications/Skills:
● Bachelor’s degree or higher in an Engineering (mechanical, chemical, etc.), or related discipline
● 5-10 years of work experience in relevant industry
● Experience with end to end equipment design and implementation
● Experience with OEM management
● Experience in project management and leading projects
● Demonstrated ability to solve highly technical problems
● Excellent demonstrated written and oral communications skills
● Self-motivated with a growth mindset
● Organized, and accountable
● Thrives in small team environment and likes challenges
● Ability to work independently with minimal oversight
This role will require up to 20% of time traveling when necessary.
