We are seeking a professional with expertise in the energy sector and a motivation to learn more about the grid. The grid policy specialist will drive forward policy and regulatory solutions to the unique challenges facing the grid, as well as collaborating with network companies to make change happen. This could cover topics across market reform, network regulation, grid tech innovation, financing, supply chain, network competition and grid connections.

- Engage and build relationships with network companies to find better ways of getting things done
- Collaborate with internal Octopus business units, including generation and energy services, to improve ways of working with the network companies
- Act as internal expert and advisor on grid policy and regulation across the Octopus group
What you'll need...
- Knowledge of energy policy - you don’t need to be an expert in network regulation today but should have an interest to learn
- Background/education in economics, political science, engineering, technology or another relevant field
- Able to write concisely about complex topics and build arguments that are supported by good quality data and analysis Ideally experience working or interacting with regulated networks or infrastructure
- Comfortable being a self starter and working in a culture with flat hierarchy, low process/admin overheads and a high degree of autonomy
