The Power and Renewables Research Team is a highly respected group of analysts producing market-leading research on the entire renewable energy value chain, covering onshore and offshore wind, solar PV, energy storage and power markets. Our cutting-edge knowledge of renewable supply chains, costs, deployments, and investment trends further strengthens Wood Mackenzie's offerings in the market during this rapidly changing time in the energy sector.

Role Purpose

Support the development and operation of energy storage cost and revenue models and associated processes, databases and reports of the growing Energy Storage service.

Main responsibilities

  • Lead new data collection, both qualitative and quantitative, on the energy storage system costs.
  • Scope and tune revenue models in close collaboration with our APAC power team through collection and synthesis of power market price data and analysis of market participation rules for storage.
  • Assist in the expansion of storage technology coverage through modeling of alternative and long-duration storage technologies.
  • Develop original market research and analysis with a culmination in client deliverables and industry thought leadership pieces
  • Maintain and improve existing datasets and model outputs to ensure they are up to date and representative of current industry trends.
  • Collaborate with peers across Wood Mackenzie to prepare material for conferences, marketing services and editorial coverage.

Knowledge, skills and experience

  • Passionate about renewable energy with a strong knowledge of the sector and markets in Asia. Previous experience with the energy storage industry is a plus.
  • Strong analytical capabilities, both qualitative and quantitative. Fluent with Excel and PowerPoint. Coding and programming experience (Python, R, etc.) is a plus.
  • Strong networking skills and the ability to develop relationships with key industry stakeholders.
  • Intellectually curious and can think critically about the effect of a wider business landscape.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively within a global team.
  • Strong organisational skills and an eye towards collaboration.
  • Fluency with reading, writing and communicating in English.
  • A bachelor’s degree in related technology, economics, or business field. A masters or PhD degree is a plus, but not required.
