Overview

The P2 Design Engineer is responsible for assisting in the design, development, and optimization of transformers and related components. As an intermediate-level engineer, the P2 role involves applying developing expertise to contribute to projects and tasks under the guidance of more senior engineers. This role includes collaboration with cross-functional teams and opportunities to develop technical skills. The P2 Design Engineer plays a key role in supporting design initiatives and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and development of transformers or related components, ensuring compliance with industry standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC, CSA) and customer specifications
  • Conduct basic engineering analyses to support product performance, cost optimization, and efficiency improvements
  • Support failure analysis on design-related issues under the supervision of senior engineers, contributing to identifying root causes and corrective actions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality assurance, and supply chain, to ensure successful integration of designs into production
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical support to ensure designs meet project and customer requirements
  • Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, including design specifications and test plans, under supervision
  • Stay informed on industry trends and regulatory changes to assist in maintaining competitive and compliant designs
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by supporting efforts to improve processes and product designs

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • 2-3 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering, with a focus on transformer or related product design
  • Proficiency with basic design and analysis tools, including mechanical, and thermal analysis software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks)
  • Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC, CSA) and regulatory requirements for transformers or components
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to learn and apply technical knowledge under supervision
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills, capable of collaborating with cross-functional teams
  • Organized, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
