About the Job: 

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Capital Expenditures Global Supply Manager (GSM) to lead the strategic sourcing and management of battery cell and energy storage system (ESS) manufacturing equipment for our new factory. This critical role will drive the development and execution of our battery cell and ESS  equipment supply chain strategy, ensuring optimal supplier partnerships, cost efficiency, and on-time project delivery. 
 
The GSM will work closely with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing engineering, project management, and operations, to deliver best-in-class equipment solutions that align with Peak Energy’s manufacturing goals. This role requires extensive experience in purchasing battery cell equipment, a strong technical background, and the ability to build and maintain global supplier relationships. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Strategic Sourcing & Procurement: 
    • Develop and execute a comprehensive supply chain strategy for battery cell manufacturing equipment, ensuring alignment with company objectives. 
    • Lead the supplier selection process, including RFQ (Request for Quote) management, cost analysis, and supplier negotiations.
    • Negotiate equipment contracts, ensuring favorable terms for cost, lead time, warranty, and after-sales service.
    • Manage and optimize capital equipment budgets to ensure cost targets are met. 
  • Supplier Management: 
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with global suppliers to ensure timely delivery, competitive pricing, and adherence to quality standards. 
    • Drive supplier performance through regular evaluations and the implementation of improvement plans as needed. 
      Cross-Functional  
  • Collaboration: 
    • Work closely with the manufacturing engineering team to define equipment specifications, technical requirements, and timelines. 
    • Collaborate with project managers to align equipment procurement with factory construction milestones. 
  • Market Analysis: 
    • Stay updated on global trends in battery cell equipment and supply chain dynamics, particularly in Asia, to maintain a competitive advantage. 
  • Travel: 
    • Travel to supplier sites in Asia as required for supplier assessments, negotiations, and equipment commissioning. 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in strategic sourcing or procurement of battery cell manufacturing equipment. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply chain management, or a related field. Advanced degrees (MBA or technical master’s) are a plus.
  • Proven experience managing high-value capital equipment programs in the energy storage or automotive industries. 
  • Strong technical background in battery cell and ESS manufacturing processes and equipment (e.g., coating, calendaring, stacking, formation, laser welding, etc.). 
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications and collaborate with engineering teams. 
  • Demonstrated expertise in supplier negotiations, cost reduction, and contract management. 
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess supplier capabilities and market trends. 
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.  
  • Willingness to travel internationally, particularly to Asia, up to 25-30% of the time.

The salary range for this role is $150,000 - $190,000 with actual pay varying based on work location, experience, and skills. At Peak Energy, we value our employees and promote work-life balance.
