Job Description
Overview
The M2 Engineering Manager is an entry level manager responsible for supervising the design and development efforts of a team of engineers focused on medium voltage and low voltage dry-type transformers or related components. This role emphasizes hands-on management, ensuring projects meet their objectives in terms of quality, cost, and timeline, while adhering to engineering standards. The M2 Engineering Manager also plays a key role in mentoring team members and supporting project execution under the guidance of the M3 Engineering Manager.
Responsibilities
- Directly supervise a team of engineers, providing day-to-day oversight and support to ensure the successful execution of engineering tasks and projects.
- Assist in project execution, overseeing portions of the design and development process to ensure alignment with project timelines and quality standards.
- Collaborate with other teams, including manufacturing and quality assurance, to ensure that engineering designs are integrated smoothly into production.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., UL, CSA, IEEE, NEMA) and regulatory requirements throughout the product development process.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to individual contributors, helping them to develop their skills and achieve project goals.
- Monitor team performance, providing feedback and guidance to ensure project milestones are met and engineering KPIs are achieved.
- Support resource management, working with the M3 Engineering Manager to allocate project resources efficiently and manage team workloads.
- Contribute to problem-solving efforts, helping to address design challenges and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Promote a culture of safety and quality, ensuring team compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.
- Stay informed about industry trends and technologies, bringing new insights to the team to drive continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- More than 5 years of experience in engineering, with at least 2 years of technical leadership experience in an engineering environment.
- Electrical and Mechanical experience in the design and construction of the following dry type transformers (Medium Voltage Transformers from 150 KVA to 5 MVA and Low voltage PDU Transformers, Single Phase and Three Phase Reactive Magnetics, Inductors, Reactors, Non-Linear Transformers Above 500 KVA).
- Proven ability to manage and mentor individual contributors, guiding them in the execution of design and development projects.
- Familiarity with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and engineering processes.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across departments to support project goals.
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities, with experience addressing technical challenges and implementing corrective actions.
- High level of professionalism and commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
