Overview

A Production Assembly Operator manufactures and assembles electrical components.

Use of both hands to manufacture parts and keen vision to inspect the quality of parts are required. Minimum of one year in a manfacturing environment.

Responsibilities

Position responsibilities as follows:

  • Operator sits or stands at a workstation and using both hands, places parts into a fixture and assembles/solders/test components per the Work Instructions and the supplied Bill of Material.
  • Operator possesses good vision and good hand/finger dexterity to manipulate fine parts.
  • This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

Education or Equivalent (any of these may apply):

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge/Skills Requirements: 

 

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

 

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

 

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Lift/carry/stoop - employee occasionally required to stand, walk, lift, and carry, turns around and restock parts/materials from a parts ben no more than twice per day.
  • Sit - employee regularly sits for extended periods.
  • Packs out boxes with finished parts and lifts completed boxes and places on pallets.
  • Use of hands/fingers - the employees require constant use of hands and fingers to place parts in the rivet machine. 
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. 
  • The employee frequently is required to sit. 
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk to and from the break room, to and from the time clock, occasionally walking to restock parts, occasionally reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. 
  • The employee is required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 5 lbs. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
