Position Summary:  The Senior Manufacturing Manager oversees all aspects of the manufacturing facility's day-to-day production duties, including production planning, staff supervision, cost management, and ensuring that production targets are met while adhering to quality, safety, and customer requirements. This role will lead a team of dedicated manufacturing professionals to build and deliver chemical, biological and explosives detection sensors and chemistries. The position will have 3-8 direct reports, with additional staff under them. The job is responsible for establishing and maintaining production capability and capacity. The role will participate in short- and long-term planning and will make independent decisions on work methods and procedures. The job will also work cooperatively with other departments to ensure the smooth operation of the order fulfillment and new product introduction processes in an ISO9001:2015 environment.  The position will report regularly to upper management on production capacity, capability, and performance against key performance metrics.  The position will also drive continuous process improvement efforts and work to drive costs down while ensuring quality remains at the highest standards.  

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute production schedules to meet customer demand, considering inventory levels, resource availability, and production lead times.
  • Accountable for delivering high quality, reliable and on-time products to internal and external customers.
  • Maintains manufacturing dashboard: product pipeline, high level schedule, scorecard, risks/mitigations for all areas within manufacturing.
  • Assist with planning and management of yearly department budget and headcount projections.
  • Review resource needs with Finance to ensure needs are within budgetary constraints and forecasted budgets.
  • Review efficiencies and cost of goods sold (COGS) to determine and implement processes for improved efficiency and reduced cost.
  • Ensure production floor is well suited for development of new products, sustaining of current products, and transition of technology and process to production.
  • Ensure all sufficient resources (materials, workforce, equipment) are allocated or have been requested for the manufacturing of all products and accessories.
  • Ensure production is operating on-time in accordance with implemented processes.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, productivity, and product quality.
  • Participates in weekly and monthly material planning reviews.
  • Conducts regular reviews and approvals for production orders and provides estimated ship dates to sales operations.
  • Supports business leaders to project monthly and quarterly product shipments and revenue attainment.
  • Coach staff on job and career growth opportunities.
  • Participates in weekly and monthly material planning reviews to assist the supply chain organization with evaluation of inventory levels against forecasts and key performance metrics.
  • Prepare and present regular reports to senior management on production status, performance metrics, and any potential issues.
  • Other duties as necessary

Job Qualifications:

  • Applicants must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing leadership preferred.
  • Ability to motivate and manage a team, build consensus, and delegate tasks effectively.
  • Experience with analytical instrumentation and/or chemical processes preferred.
  • Experience operating in an ISO 9001:2015 Quality Environment strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing and coordinating technically diverse teams.
  • Experience establishing and refining processes within manufacturing environment.
  • Experience leading continuous improvement activities such as 5S and Kaizen are strongly preferred.
  • Ability to interpret data, analyze performance metrics, and make informed decisions.
  • BS+ in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing Engineering, or similar preferred.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to motivate team members to realize defined objectives and goals.
  • Strong people management and coaching skills
  • Proven ability to drive results while maintaining healthy working relationships with peers and subordinates.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office tools and MRP/ERP systems (preferably SAP).
