Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Operations Engineer with expertise in power systems, especially battery storage, to oversee the operations, maintenance, and deployment of our mobile energy storage fleet. Based in Southern California, this role will be critical to ensuring seamless operations, timely customer response, and strategic planning to meet project and business needs. Core to this position is an emphasis for building the future mission controls alongside a world class software team.
Key Responsibilities
Fleet Operations & Deployment:
Manage the scheduling, deployment, and tracking of the mobile energy storage fleet to ensure reliable and timely service delivery.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align fleet availability with project timelines and customer needs.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
Develop and execute preventative maintenance schedules to ensure fleet reliability and performance.
Lead troubleshooting efforts for hardware-related issues, leveraging knowledge of battery systems and power electronics.
Coordinate repairs and upgrades to maintain peak operational efficiency.
Procurement & Inventory Management:
Oversee procurement of parts, tools, and materials required for fleet maintenance and upgrades.
Maintain inventory records to ensure critical components are readily available.
Customer Support & Communication:
Act as the primary point of contact for troubleshooting escalations, providing timely and effective solutions to minimize downtime.
Communicate fleet status, maintenance schedules, and project readiness to stakeholders.
Regulatory Compliance & Safety:
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding fleet operations and energy storage systems.
Promote and enforce safety standards in all aspects of fleet management.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience using backend software tools to assess state of operations and control of energy assets.
Experience managing fleets or systems related to power systems, with a strong focus on battery energy storage solutions.
Proven expertise in troubleshooting and maintaining battery systems and power electronics.
Strong organizational skills with experience in project management and inventory control.
Familiarity with safety standards and regulatory requirements for energy storage systems.
Excellent communication skills to coordinate with internal teams and external customers.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a startup environment or with portable/mobile power solutions.
Familiarity with fleet management software and predictive analytics tools.
Certifications in fleet management, battery systems, or related areas.
