About the role:
We’re looking for an entrepreneurial, hands-on technical leader to lead and scale our product development and technology strategy at Basis Climate. In this role, you will leverage your deep technical expertise, passion for innovation, and experience scaling engineering teams to build a best-in-class delightful process automation machine for clean energy tax credit transfers.
Currently, our engineering team currently consists of two engineers. We are looking for a technology leader who still likes to code, but can be a key member of our leadership team, overseeing product architecture, team management, and long-term technology vision in a fast-paced, remote-first environment.
What you bring to the role:
Proven Leadership: Experience as an engineering leader, either as technical lead or engineering manager, in a start-up or high-growth environment, ideally in FinTech or SaaS.
Technical Excellence: Strong foundation in modern programming languages and frameworks; expertise in architecting scalable, secure, and reliable solutions.
Passionate about AI Technology: Familiarity and focus in utilizing AI technologies to accelerate business processes and data analysis.
Automation & Workflow Expertise: Familiarity with document and process automation platforms, data security, and workflow optimization.
Strategic Thinking: Ability to translate business needs and customer feedback into technical roadmaps; strong product sense combined with the ability to balance short-term deliverables with long-term strategy.
Collaboration & Communication: Exceptional communication skills; can partner with cross-functional stakeholders—product, operations, sales, and finance—to drive alignment and success.
What you will be responsible for:
Technical Vision & Strategy: Define and implement the engineering roadmap to support our growth, ensuring alignment with product, market, and organizational objectives.
Platform & Architecture Ownership: Oversee the design and delivery of a secure, robust, and scalable platform focused on document and process automation. Staying on top of the latest techniques and implementations to make the most out of AI advancements.
Team Leadership & Development: Recruit, mentor, and retain an exceptional engineering team; foster a culture of continuous learning, experimentation, and high performance.
Process Optimization & Automation: Lead initiatives to automate manual processes, streamline data flow, and reduce operational overhead—unlocking greater efficiency for both internal teams and customers.
Quality & Security: Champion best practices in coding standards, testing, security, and compliance, establishing and maintaining protocols to protect sensitive data and meet regulatory requirements.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management: Work closely with members of our small team to define technical requirements, influence product direction, and ensure timely, high-quality delivery.
Compensation:
Competitive base ($150,000-$180,000) and milestone and performance based bonus
