Job Description

X- Energy, LLC is seeking a Director, Taxation responsible for overseeing the Company’s U.S. and international tax compliance and planning. This role will serve as the subject matter expert for all tax matters, providing guidance and strategic direction on tax-related issues. The Director, Taxation will engage with various internal departments and manage relationships with external tax advisors to ensure accurate and timely reporting of income tax information. Key responsibilities include preparing tax returns, tax provisions, and tax planning strategies. Additionally, the Director, Taxation will develop and implement tax strategies that support the company’s growth objectives, aligning tax planning with long-term business goals. This position will play a critical role in shaping the Company’s tax strategy to facilitate and support future business growth.


 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Company’s tax functions to ensure proper compliance and timely filing at the U.S. federal, U.S. state and international levels.
  • Assist and coordinate with external tax advisors on all compliance, audits, filings and payment requirements.
  • Oversee all sales and use and property tax matters for the Company.
  • Develop and recommend transfer pricing strategies and maintain appropriate transfer pricing documentation.
  • Build and manage staff by ensuring staff are meeting expectations and promoting staff professional development.
  • Evaluate new tax laws, regulations and policies and recommend appropriate courses of action.
  • Manage and continually assess the Company’s tax processes and procedures and ensure necessary improvements are implemented and operating effectively.
  • Communicate with state and local tax authorities on tax-related correspondence.
  • Assist with special projects, as deemed necessary.
  • Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
  • Typically, fifteen years progressive corporate tax experience.
  • CPA required.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state and local tax laws and regulations.
  • Experience in conducting in-depth tax research and developing sound tax positions.

Location: 530 Gaither Road, Rockville, MD
Travel Expectations:  5%      
Work Site Expectations:  3-4 days a week in office     
Hours:  8:00am-5:00pm, Mon-Fri   

Compensation

As required by Maryland and other applicable state law, X Energy, LLC (X-energy) lists the expected compensation range for a publicly advertised job opportunity based upon the job requirements (e.g. education/training, experience, skill sets, etc.).  Individual candidates who meet the job requirements for the posted position will be offered a salary within this range based on their respective levels of education/training, experience, and other qualifications unique to them.  Salary ranges may vary based on the specific office location and region referenced in the posting to take into consideration differences in cost of living and may not be reflective of all regions.  Please note that compensation ranges listed for US job postings reflect base salary only and do not include benefits or other incentives. 

A reasonable estimate for this position at the level of experience required is:

$198,000- $253,000. The compensation for this position is comprised of base salary plus an annual short term incentive which is variable, based on scope of responsibility and achievement of goals.
