Responsibilities

  • Develop our data/ML pipelines and create internal tooling with a focus on observability into our data and operations

  • Assist with dataset creation both in creating the datasets themselves and in improving tooling around making datasets easier to generate and evaluate

  • Ensure 24/7 operability of our deployed systems and enable all of our teams to have the data they need to discover & investigate incidents as they arise

  • Collaborate with other engineers to write well-documented and maintainable code and procedures

  • Participate in cross-functional team meetings and contribute to Visia's overall product roadmap, helping to shape the future of recycling and green tech

Who you are

  • You have 1+ years of full-time work experience in Data or Software Engineering and a passion for data, and using technology to drive positive change

  • You have strong programming skills in one or more commonly used programming languages (we use Python, TypeScript, and Go among others)

  • You are comfortable working with at least some of the following technologies and are eager and able to learn others as needed:

    • Database languages and tools (SQL, dbt)

    • Data orchestration platforms (Airflow, Dagster)

    • Databases & data warehouses (Postgres, ClickHouse, BigQuery, SnowFlake)

    • Observability tooling (Datadog, Sentry, Graphana, Prometheus, anything involving OpenTelemetry)

  • You have worked with large amounts of data before and possess knowledge around automating observability and improving capabilities for triage in production systems

  • A working knowledge of machine learning fundamentals (annotation, training, evaluation) is a huge plus

  • What you might work on at Visia

  • Building observability & data consistency checks to allow us to ensure our platform is operational while minimizing human interaction

  • Assisting with automating ML data ingestion, annotation, model training, and evaluation pipelines to enable faster end-to-end model improvements

  • Collaborating with data analysts and product teams to build feature-rich datasets that are well-organized, annotated, and ready for use by other teams and systems

  • Extracting and visualizing service logs, metrics, and traces across our stack using Datadog

Salary: $110,000 - $180,000 + options
