The Automotive Technician is a member of the Autonomous Vehicle Operations team.
This role will ensure Beep's fleet of Autonomous Vehicles are in good, working order to both maximize service uptime and provide safe, reliable service to our customers.
This position is responsible for regular vehicle inspections, scheduled maintenance, aftermarket modifications, and working with vendors to resolve any mechanical issues.
This is a full-time position based in the San Francisco Bay area. Candidates MUST be able to work in the Bay area.

Responsibilities:
- Perform regular delivery and scheduled inspections based on vendor preventative maintenance schedules
- Partner with the Beep Command Center to diagnose and resolve issues with Beep鈥檚 fleet of autonomous vehicles
- Support all vehicle maintenance activities
- Documenting maintenance procedures and service manuals
- Participate in Beep's change management and incident management procedures for preparation of planned and unplanned maintenance
- Ensure consistent implementation of inspection and maintenance procedures across all Beep service areas
- Work closely with the manufacturer to procure and maintain spare parts and associated inventory
- Manage aftermarket modifications to Beep鈥檚 autonomous vehicles
- Effectively organize work across multiple priorities and programs
- Maintain vendor maintenance certifications (training will be provided)
Performs other related duties as assigned.
The pay range for this position is approx. $75,000 annually. This is a salaried position. However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
Requirements
Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to work with proprietary software to diagnose issues with and calibrate vehicle components
- Ability to identify issues and make recommendations to improve existing processes
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics

Education and Experience:
- Associate's degree in mechanical engineering technology or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of experience working in the automotive industry with a focus on fleet maintenance; autonomous fleet maintenance experience preferred
- Strong experience working with electrical systems
- ASE certifications (A Series, H Series, and L3 preferred)
- Automotive Technician and/or Dealership experience preferred
- Must be able to pass a background check and Federal drug screen
- Must have a clean driving record
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, or kneeling predominately in an outdoor environment.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- Travel up to 75%
Salary Description
Approx. $75,000 annually
