Founded in 2018, Singularity Energy delivers cutting-edge carbon and clean energy management software and data solutions, empowering utilities, grid operators, corporations, and technology providers to accurately measure emissions and drive grid decarbonization. With roots at Harvard and a team of seasoned power systems experts, Singularity Energy is backed by leading investors, including Spero Ventures, Third Sphere, and Energy Impact Partners. Our innovative work has earned recognition from organizations such as TIME, Harvard, EPRI, Greentown Labs, and the National Science Foundation.

Having successfully deployed our technology with some of the largest utilities and grid operators, we are now scaling from pilot programs to full commercial placements. As we prepare for our potential Series A fundraising round, we are seeking a Head of Growth to help drive our next phase of expansion.

Position Overview:

Singularity Energy is seeking an exceptional Head of Growth to drive the expansion of our business and customer base, and to establish our leadership in grid carbon analytics across the U.S. market. This is a senior leadership role reporting directly to the CEO. Initially operating as an individual contributor, the position offers the opportunity to grow into a team leadership role as the company scales.

The Head of Growth will play a critical role in crafting and executing commercial strategies to achieve revenue targets, with a primary focus on utility sales and marketing. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of strategic vision, hands-on sales expertise, and a proven ability to build and lead high-performing teams.

Ideal candidates will bring a deep understanding of utilities, grid decarbonization, scope 2 emissions reporting, and the regulatory landscape of the energy industry. This role requires a results-driven leader capable of positioning Singularity Energy as the definitive partner for grid decarbonization solutions in a complex and evolving market.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Growth strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive growth strategy aligned with Singularity’s mission, goals, and product roadmap to enable the world's most innovative electricity providers to deliver credible energy mix and carbon insights to their customers.

  • Customer engagement: Cultivate strong relationships with utilities, grid operators, and other stakeholders to understand their needs and drive adoption of our platform.

  • Sales leadership and execution: Own and drive revenue growth. Actively identify target accounts and contacts within Singularity’s target geographies. Conduct direct sales efforts to create new opportunities and advance those opportunities through relationship building and value based selling. Develop and manage accurate sales forecasts and track progress towards revenue targets on a regular basis.

  • Marketing leadership and execution: Lead marketing initiatives to expand Singularity’s visibility, including mass marketing campaigns and targeted outreach. Implement and execute a variety of marketing campaigns across multiple channels (e.g., social media, email, paid advertising, content marketing, events) to achieve measurable marketing goals.

  • Thought leadership: Represent Singularity Energy at industry events to position the company as a leader in grid decarbonization.

  • Team management: Hire, mentor, and manage a growing team, ensuring alignment with Singularity’s mission and objectives.

  • Market intelligence and insights: Stay informed on market trends, reporting standards, and regulatory impacts to inform commercial strategy and product development.

  • Revenue operations and data analytics: Leverage CRM systems and data analytics to optimize sales performance and track key metrics.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

  • Experience: 7+ years of commercial and/or product experience, ideally in sales, marketing, strategy, business development, or product management roles. Experience in the energy, utility, or related sectors is highly desirable, as is experience at a high growth start-up or scale-up.

  • Leadership: Proven ability to build and manage teams in a fast-paced environment.

  • Domain expertise: Familiarity with technical and policy aspects of the energy industry, or with carbon accounting standards and developments (24/7 CFE, GHG protocol, etc.). Experience with utility contracting or working with technical industry groups is a plus.

  • Sales and marketing expertise: Strong background in sales funnel management, mass marketing, lead generation, and customer engagement.

  • CRM proficiency: Experience with CRM tools (e.g. Hubspot), data-driven sales approaches, and marketing automation tools.

Candidate Characteristics:

  • Quick Learner: Demonstrates intellectual curiosity and the ability to rapidly absorb and apply knowledge in a fast-paced, complex, and evolving market. This includes mastering technical concepts, policy frameworks, methodological approaches, and the intricacies of energy market dynamics.

  • Strong communicator: Excellent written and verbal skills, with a bias towards proactive, transparent, and honest communication.

  • Culture fit: Passion for addressing climate change and a strong alignment with Singularity’s goals and team-based decision making.

  • Flexibility: Willingness to travel for client meetings, conferences, and industry events.

  • Location: Preference for candidates based in or near Boston, but remote-friendly for the right candidate.
