Software has a crucial role in the modern vehicle where it commands the operation of many sub-systems. The most visible and most complex among them is the Infotainment system. It is an integral part of the human machine interface (HMI), and is increasingly contributing to the user experience of the occupants. We are seeking a Senior Staff Device Driver Software Engineer for our state-of-the-art Infotainment system. This position requires an experienced professional with accomplished background in embedded RTOS. Our ideal candidate possesses extended knowledge in device hardware/software interface, interrupt-based drivers in QNX, and as someone who can adapt quickly and contribute to an efficient and stable runtime platform within a fast-paced environment.

 

The Role

• Enable hardware and software components from potential vendors, interact with partners to develop and support the board, device drivers, and boot loaders

• Develop and modify product specific kernel and device drivers

• Configure memory mapping and interrupt routing for efficient operations

• Develop unit test cases. Diagnose, analyze, and resolve issues

• Optimize the virtualized operating environment and tune the platform subsystems for key use cases

Qualifications

• A minimum of 7 years of industry experience in system software development

• Proven experience in development of any of these drivers: displays, FPD-Link, camera MIPI CSI, GMSL, capacitive touch input

• Advanced knowledge of OS internals (process scheduler, memory management, concurrency, synchronization, memory allocation, file system, networking, storage, system architecture)

• 5+ years of experience developing in C/C++ and shell scripting

• Fluency in source code management, unit test, code review, and issue tracking systems

• Hands on experience configuring, troubleshooting, and optimizing embedded systems and middleware

• Mastery skills in Linux development environment with GNU toolchain

• Expert in embedded system development using RTOS (QNX preferred) and embedded Linux or Android

• Working knowledge with Hypervisor and virtualization technologies in embedded usage (QEMU, Virt I/O, safe partitioning, secure IPC)

• Passion for product excellence and quality

 

Bonus Points

• Knowledgeable in display interface such as DSI and HDMI, tcon programming, and configuring FPD-Link SerDes

• Expert in camera control and data pipeline, GMSL links, MIPI CSI programming and processing

• Familiar with H.264/H.265 hardware encode and decode, RTP protocol, color space conversion, NPU processing for video streams

• Knowledgeable in display interface such as DSI and HDMI, tcon programming, and configuring FPD-Link SerDes

• Experience with board bring-up, kernel customizations, device driver optimization

• Experience with automotive infotainment systems

 

Education

• BS minimum in the areas of Computer Science, Computer engineering or other related fields (MS preferred)

Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.
 
Additional Compensation and Benefits: Lucid offers a wide range of competitive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance, vacation, and 401k. The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in Lucid’s equity program and/or a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing such programs.  (Cash or equity incentive awards, if any, will depend on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and company performance.)
Base Pay Range (Annual)
$195,500$286,770 USD
