What will you do as Test & Commissioning Technician – Energy Storage Systems?

If you’re someone who loves a mix of building stuff, testing, teamwork, and a lot “juggling of balls”, keep reading. 

As our new Test & Commissioning Technician you’ll be at the heart of our production testing process also known as FAT. Your job is to, from A to Z bring our BESS-systems to live! By testing, troubleshooting and fine-tuning important details—you’ll make sure everything is just right before it ships out to our customers.Here’s what your day-to-day might look like:

• Test and validate (customer)-specific software configurations
• (Co-)design and carry out different test such as endurance and durability tests
• Perform (custom) battery balancing, capacity testing, and output measurements
• Troubleshoot like a pro—from mechanical battery pack issues to wiring and from watertightness to software issues – the whole shebang
• Work closely with R&D and all other departments to build test setups and integrate new product features
• Analyze test data and provide feedback for continuous improvement
• Take part in daily standups and collaborate with all colleagues of engineering but also our sub- and final assembly technicians
• Sure, some tasks require patience (like battery balancing) and a bit of repetition—but the variety, impact, and vibe more than make up for it

Diversity is key because this is a mixed role. Technically it’s about ~60% software and ~40% hardware related. If everything goes to plan, your time will be split 50/50 between being in our Big Ass factory. Call it a tech playground where you can work with fast chargers, CCS inlets, PLC’s, massive batteries (200–800 kWh and beyond) and their BMS systems. The other 50% will be behind your laptop or in good technical discussions with your co-workers.

What will you bring to Big Ass Battery?
You’re a techie at heart. Maybe you’ve been wrenching in the garage, coding in your free time, or playing with electronics since forever. You’re not just looking for a job—you want to build, improve, and laugh along the way. We’d love to see:

• A technical background on a vocational level (MBO4) in mechatronics, electrical engineering or automotive engineering 
• Mechanically oriented? As long as you have a strong affinity and experience with software and electrical work
• 4+ years of experience in FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing), troubleshooting of mechatronic systems
• Hands-on experience with tools like multimeters, oscilloscopes and insulation testers a.k.a "megger" 
• You loves to build stuff — we are curious about your hobby projects!
• Knowledge of (or interest in learning) Python, PLC programming
• An eagerness to learn and dive into new software tools or learn new stuff
• A strong safety mindset because you are working with high-voltage systems (up to 1000V DC / 400V AC)
• A sharp mind with a healthy dose of humor—because what’s hard work without some fun?
• Fluent in English is a must (Dutch or “Brabants” is a strong plus)
• A “get sh*t done” attitude, ego’s aren’t allowed

• For the experience we are aiming fort he salary range will be between €3.500 and €4.250 gross per month. 
• On top of that we offer a 13th month in December and 8% holiday pay in May

• Enough time to recharge your own personal battery with 25 vacation and 13 ADV days
