Job Description
The Environmental Health & Safety Officer is empowered to stop any unsafe act that is observed. Proactive and enthusiastic to make the workplace safer and lead changes in environmental protection, noise exposure control, pollution control and waste management. Lead by example.
Specific Tasks
- Ensuring, in conjunction with the Quality team, that the laboratory and Eurofins Lablink operates within a quality management system that meets the requirements of ISO15189 accreditation and ISO9001 certification.
- Ensuring that hazards are identified and suitably controlled within the workplace by conducting weekly & monthly departmental inspections.
- Sharing of best practices and standardisation of documentation and procedures across all functions.
- Escalate where required concerns to the Site Management team and the Quality Assurance Manager and/or Director of QA & Process Improvement.
Environmental Tasks
- Carry out routine visits and inspections to ensure compliance with Environmental legislation
- Investigate complaints from customers and the general public in relation to environmental concerns or impact.
- Investigate outbreaks of infectious disease and prevent it spreading any further.
- Monitor agreed levels of noise, air, land and water emissions form site
- Schedule and Chair regular Environmental Health & Safety Committee meetings.
- Assist managers/team leaders in implementation of Environmental H&S policy & procedures.
- Provision of advice & support on Environmental H&S issues within their level of expertise.
- Co-ordination of Environmental Health & Safety training for all departments.
- Management of the Environmental Health & Safety documentation on QPulse and related Environmental H&S systems.
- Review, update and implement relevant Environmental Health & Safety compliance.
Health & Safety Tasks
- Investigate accidents at work and complaints about poor standards of health and safety, identifying immediate, preventive and continual improvement actions.
- Compile, analyse and prepare Health & Safety reports and/or presentations for Senior Management.
- Lead the site risk assessment program.
- Support line managers when requesting advice or guidance on specific H&S issues.
- Monitoring of the Biological & Chemical management programmes including COSHH assessments, Safety Data Sheets and Registers.
- Ensuring contractor management is maintained including induction and review of contractor risk assessments and method statements.
- Champion and Support occupational health within all departments.
- Oversee arrangements for emergency response including arrangements for fire, first aid and spill response.
Working Hours: 35 hours per week
Please note this is not a HYBRID role, this role will be based on site in Sandyford, Dublin 18
