Purpose
ScottishPower Renewables is part of the ScottishPower Group of companies which is a subsidiary of the Global Iberdrola Group.
Based at ScottishPower Renewables Site Operation at Whitelee Control Centre / Glasgow Head Quarters, you will be responsible for engineering, commissioning and support of ScottishPower Renewables SCADA system and associated applications within ScottishPower Renewables Onshore / Offshore portfolio.
Working within the Site Operations team, you will work with other stakeholders in the wider Iberdrola Group to integrate and support the SCADA system in new / existing Windfarms, Solar and Battery sites.
After a period of training, you will support all aspects of the ScottishPower Renewables SCADA system and take part in an on-call support rotation.
Responsibilities
Providing resolution and confirmation of questions and/or issues relating to the SCADA system from Construction, Field Operations and the Control Centre, you will be required to provide and install equipment, including its respective commissioning.
Coordination of commissioning and/or operational works between various stakeholders across the business, you will interface directly with Contractors to provide technical assistance related to SCADA and associated control systems.
Attending FATs, SATs on site or at Contractor premises, you will write test procedures to validate new and/or modified SCADA works, defining requirements for engineering, procurement, construction and installation phases of the control and communication system.
Providing training on the SCADA system to Operations teams, you will also attend meetings with stakeholders when required and carry out maintenance tasks which will include patching and updating of PC’s and servers, backup devices, files and applications.
What you’ll bring
Excellent communication skills
Educated to degree level or equivalent, preferably in an Engineering, IT or related discipline
Experience in Project Management for software upgrade and development projects, as well as knowledge of working with third parties/multi-discipline teams
Excellent team player
Knowledge in communication systems related to Protection and Networking Management Systems for the electrical network
Knowledge of networks (TCP/IP) and communication links is essential
Availability for travelling around UK and abroad to visit SPR assets if required
Experience in Control Systems commissioning
Experience in designing, commissioning and testing SCADA systems is essential
Experience with PLC systems is desirable
Knowledge of control loops and regulation with experience using simulation tools (desirable)
Experience with databases, MSSQL, ORACLE. Programming skills (Visual C++, .Net, VBA), use of PowerShell, Task Scheduling are desirable
Exposure to the energy sector, substation or generation plants, active power and voltage regulation
Knowledge of communication protocols, OPC, IEC61850-8-1 (MMS), IEC60870-5-104, MODBUS, SNMP
To be successful in a role you will need to demonstrate as minimum:
High level of IT skills, focusing on SCADA applications
Excellent communication skills
Self-motivation and willingness to learn
BSc, Electrical/Control Engineering, or related engineering discipline
Good knowledge of SP Renewables business functions, processes, and interactions (desirable)
Awareness of NIS Directive and experience of security controls within an OT environment, (Intrusion detection systems, vulnerability management) (desirable)
Experience accessing substations (H&S knowledge) (desirable)
