Our mission at Base is to fix the power grid and enable affordable and reliable electricity for all. To do that, we are building America’s Next-Generation Power Company; the first engineering-led, technology-focused, R&D-driven electricity company. We are a team of tenacious engineers, operators, and creatives who have solved hard problems and are here to do it again.

At Base, we operate a fleet of distributed energy resources that interacts with the Texas electricity market and we supply power to retail customers. We're seeking a Quantitative Analyst to join our trading and risk team. The role will focus on building and maintaining our risk management platform that will span the distributed fleet and our retail customers. This is a mid-level position that combines quantitative analysis, programming, and energy market expertise.

  • Design and implement a comprehensive risk management platform to monitor market risk across our distributed energy fleet and retail customers.
  • Develop risk models for our positions and help identify/evaluate new products.
  • Build analytical tools to assess portfolio performance and risk metrics.
  • Be comfortable pulling in and analyzing necessary data sources.

Required Skills / Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or related quantitative field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in quantitative analysis, risk management or data science.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, or similar languages, and SQL.
  • Strong quantitative and statistical background. Experience with modeling preferred.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability and analytical thinking.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment where requirements and priorities may shift.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with risk modeling and systems.
  • Experience in energy markets.
  • Knowledge of power trading and retail electricity markets.

If you’re passionate about tackling one of the most critical challenges of our time, now is the time to join us. Together, we can usher in a new era of American energy abundance by developing the hardware, software, and deployment operations that make it possible.
