Job Description

ACCIONA M&E is seeking an experienced Instrument, Control, and Communication Systems (ICCS) Leader to join our team for the East Rockingham Waste-to-Energy (WTE) Project.

This role is crucial for integrating and optimizing the Emerson Distributed Control System (DCS) while ensuring seamless communication with vendor-supplied control systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate on the integration and performance optimization of the Emerson DCS to ensure efficient plant operations.

  • Verify and optimize interfaces between vendor package PLC control systems and the DCS to maintain system stability.

  • Liaise with vendors and OEM suppliers to ensure proper functionality of PLC and standalone control systems.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve communication and performance issues in multi-platform environments.

  • Participate in system commissioning, testing, and handover phases to ensure operational readiness.

  • Develop and update control system documentation, including logic diagrams, functional descriptions, and SOPs.

  • Train plant operators on control system functionalities and safe operation protocols.

  • Monitor system performance and implement improvements for energy efficiency and emissions compliance.

  • Analyze process data to identify opportunities for optimization and enhanced reliability.

  • Provide support to package vendors during commissioning, ensuring seamless integration between vendor systems and the DCS.

  • Identify and analyze design changes, modify design drawings, and implement changes while adhering to the Management of Change (MoC) process.

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality assurance protocols.

  • Participate in project meetings, providing updates on control system progress and addressing technical concerns.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate control systems with other project components seamlessly.

  • Assist in developing and implementing control system maintenance plans and procedures

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation & Controls, Software, Electrical, or Electronic Engineering.

  • 10+ years of experience in engineering and commissioning of ICCS systems, with a preference for experience in Emerson DCS.

  • Strong site experience with communication protocols including Siemens PLC systems, Profibus, Modbus, OPC-UA, and DNP3.

  • Proven technical expertise in network design, programming, and control system optimization.

  • Solid background in process plant operations, maintenance, and commissioning, with the ability to implement control strategies and system modifications safely.

  • High level of interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, with the ability to interface with project stakeholders, management teams, and external parties professionally.

  • The position is open to international candidates with significant experience in engineering and commissioning of Emerson DCS systems.
